2021 Ram 3500. I can't get the voice to text to work. When I push the the prompt for voice to text, it asks me to select a pre defined message

It still surprises me that this isn't available in the Rams, but yet it has been available in other FCA vehicles for quite some time.

But as mentioned above, you're going to be stuck using Siri, Bixby or Google (depending on your phone platform). Personally, I have found that for some reason Google is the only platform that seems to understand my voice. I can't get the Ram navigation to ever understand me. Siri must think I speak another language. Bixby is a little closer, but struggles with numbers (though it picks up more of my cursing).

I have used voice to text with Android Auto and it worked pretty good.

I have used Ram's voice assistant and it thinks my friend Ken is my mom and that I only want to search for furniture stores. I am not trusting it with an actual message.

I gotta agree, the native assistant, and navigation sucks big time. Every time I try to get it to find something it degenerates into something akin to a Benny Hill skit.

I have to use Android Auto for the voice activation for text, maps, calls.

I have the 8.4 radio without Nav or WiFi...

WTF, I just ran into this yesterday. Just after getting used to using the wireless charging pad (+) and switching to the Uconnect Nav (+ for full screen and animated water, jury's out on everything else).

Has FCA given any explanation as to why they would seemingly remove a common feature on most cars?

Thanks, Erik

I got a new phone (12pro) last weekish and paired It with the Uconnect and the screen told me to hold the steering wheel button to use Siri. I don’t use that stuff but I feel like that’s a new feature.

I believe that still requires being connected via USB to CarPlay. I tried the button with Uconnect but it doesn't trip the Google Assistant or let you do anything other than predefined messages.
