Very warm center floor tray.

I have the split-bench front seats with the lift-up center console. On the floor in front of the center console is a small tray sitting on the driveshaft hump where I put sunglasses, keys, etc. in.

I picked up something out of that tray the other day and was surprised how warm it is. (This isn't new, I noticed it years ago too.) Things don't get hot where you can't pick em up, but they're noticeably warmer than normal.

Does the driveshaft create enough heat to warm up stuff in the tray?

The transmission and transfer case are there too. They put out a lot of heat.

If it is warm while your heater is on then it is possible the carpet is laid overtop of the rear seat heat ducting. On my 19 I had to remove the tray and straighten out the carpet as it was blocking almost all of the air flow to the center back seat outlets.
