Using the Compression Brake for Everyday Driving

On a few rare occasions mine has stayed on (full) when I restart after going into a store for example but generally, it turns off. I've not noticed a pattern so I'm guessing it's not supposed to do it!

It will not stay on unless you have a trailer plugged in, at least it's not supposed to.

.

Yep, brand new truck. No tune or trailer. It stays set until I change it. I was surprised. Not sure if its a 22 thing or cab and chassis thing.

Most interesting. My 2022 CC Laramie does not stay on all the time. Ive been running full driving around town. It always turns off when truck is shut off. Always have to manually turn on each time.

Its an exhaust brake not to be confused with a Jacobs compression brake, but i always run my EB (exhaust brake) on full its actually a good thing as it keeps the VGT turbo from sticking among other things…. There is no issues running it all the time to my knowledge
what is the difference between a jake brake and an exhaust brake? I have driven diesels before, but I have never used either since they were not readily available in the past.

Jake Brake forces compressed air out of the cylinders.
Exhaust brake uses exhaust back pressure.

Must be a CC thing, I have a 22 Limited crew cab and use it frequently and it has never come back on automatically once the truck was shut off and restarted. I have not had a trailer hooked up yet though so not sure if a trailer thing as others have mentioned

On the Cab n chassis the exhaust break will stay on until it’s switched back off.

My 22 stays on by itself after restart. Stays where it was when you shut down the truck.

Do you remember how you initially set it up that way that might if react that way? I would love mine to be on all the time as well.

Does anyone know if this is programmable to a 3500 non CC ?
Not through the dealership or alfaobd. I hear if you get a tune through the companies that are still out there doing deletes, etc they have it figured out how to.

All tuners seem to be doing it even the emissions intact tuning
