The wife and I both have a Samsung Galaxy 21+. When connected to any of the usb ports in truck they will not fast charge. I tested with multiple cables that all work with my Samsung super fast charger. I have not connected using Android auto yet and have only tried them as charging ports only. Is this just how it is or may there be a problem with my usb hubs.

None of the USB ports support fast charging. This is very common in vehicles.

Only way I’ve been able to get my 20+ to fast charge (in any vehicle) is to bring the Samsung charging block and plug it into the outlet. My commuter accord doesn’t have an outlet so I bought an inverter, it’s a hassle but gets the job done

I have an S8, and the bottom right regular USB port charges my phone faster than anything I have inside my house. Same with my gf's iPhone 8. It'll charge from <15% to full in 30 minutes. The left one and the center console one do not charge anywhere near as quickly

My usbc ports fast charge. There was a thread on here a while back with recommended cords. Here they are. Worked both on my s8 and now my s21.

I got a cigarette lighter usb fast charge for my wife's car, it seems to work pretty fast.

So I ended up getting this cord and now I can only fast charge on the rear usb ports. Dumb question but do I need to enable Android Auto for the fronts to fast charge.

Nope. What phone do you have? Sounds like you have fast charging enabled on your phone settings? If you are using the phone for music, AA, it will put some drain on your battery where as the rear ports aren't hooked to the media station so no extra drain, I'd that makes sence.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S21+. I dont use my phone for anything in my truck other than a phone. I only need to hook it up to charge. The screen of the phone will say either charging, fast charging or super fast charging when it is connected to a charger. My wife also has the same phone and has the same problem.

We also have Samsung S21s. I repeatedly struggle with the charging from my 2020 3500 Tradesman dash plugs. When running Google Maps and Spotify, it seems that when using USB-C to USB-C cables, it can't keep up with the draw and my phone battery will lose power despite being plugged in. I actually seem to have better luck when using a USB-A port (USB-A to USB-C cable). I've confirmed all the cables in question do fast charge when moved inside to a charging block. And I have confirmed that my phone will initially SAY it is fast-charging with any individual plug and cable combination. However, I'm beginning to think that the power supplied to my 4 dashboard USB ports is "divided" between the 4 ports. Perhaps the instances where I can't even maintain a charge coincides with when my wife also has her phone plugged into a different USB port.

I just placed yet another set (4th set) of new cables in the truck prior to our next long road trip. But probably, a cigarette lighter adapter or the 110V block will be my eventual resolution.

Interesting, I go crazy with this as well. Glad to know I am not the only one. I feel like the issue grows worse with time, as crazy as that sounds. Our 4 Runner got to the point we could not plug in 2 devices at once.
