So two questions. Does the upper glove box from a 2021 1500 fit a 2021 2500? Has anyone done this?

I believe the interior of the 1500s are updated. I do a 2021 part number comparison on one of the online oem reseller sites to see if the part numbers matched up before purchasing.

Yes I did that. The numbers are different. But I looked at pictures of both and can't really see any difference. So the local junkyard will take it back if it doesn't fit.

Ok cool, let us know for any future members who are thinking of doing the same.

I just ordered a 2020 longhorn upper glovebox from a 1500 to hopefully put in place of the passenger screen in my 2026 2500 longhorn… I think the wood from the light brown on brown longhorns from that year is the same as the wood in the new longhorn with the “bison” brown.

Can’t find any posts that confirm unplugging that screen will break anything… so… we shall see I guess on both counts…

Does the 1500 upper glovebox fit in the 2500 and does unplugging that screen result in automatic destruction

I checked images on eBay, looks like 1500 has a module that is not used on the front of the thing behind the dash for idk what… but it is blank on HD’s so I think if I remove that it will fit… fingers crossed

Yes, you break the CANBUS connection from the gateway to the radio module. I can build a jumper plug to take care of that.
The only thing you’ll have is a hidden fault in the BCM because the screen switch is disconnected, but it won’t affect anything.

Got it, so without the jumper the radio won’t work? Like the screen is like a three way light switch between the brain and the main display?

Have you done this yet? I’m hoping the 1500 upper glovebox is the same dimensions / uses same fastener location as the HD’s.

I’ll PM you re the jumper, thank you!
