Hey all, currently own a 19 Ram Limited and looking to upgrade to a 3500 for towing a 5th wheel which I’m also shopping for. Looking forward to learning and sharing once I know what I’m talking about.
What’s your thoughts on a couple of options such as the auto level rear air suspension, is it a option I should make sure I get and also the 50 gallon tank sounds appealing to me.Best thing I ever did was get out of my 2500 and get into a 3500. So much better in every aspect. The +16 year newer may have helped. \;-)
FYI, There's a payload thread here somewhere that hasn't boiled to the top recently. Don't rely too much on the published payloads. My truck (in sig) showed 4200 IIRC and has an actual 3707 payload. Basically loaded except for a sunroof.
Thanks for the welcome and comments. I am looking at the HO diesel as I’m planning on a 40>ft 5th wheel. Agree on the Limited lights they’re fantastic in fact the whole truck is and it pains me to unload it as I’ve made quite a few mods to it thus far. I’m going shopping tomorrow so I may post some pics up tomorrow evening if I pull the trigger.50 gal tank for sure. Only available in the CCLB. A must for the HO diesel based on the current mileage I'm seeing.
I guess I didn't ask if you're looking at Diesel or the Hemi?
I'm on the fence on the factory air. On the one hand it's generally convenient, on the other the lack of manual control and feckless bed lowering on the 3500 make me wish I had gone aftermarket.
If you overload the factory air, it apparently disables the exhaust brake (there's a thread on that here) which is really really dumb IMHO.
The lights on the Longhorn/Limited are AMAZING. The projectors move 5-15* with the steering and the visibility is just incredible.
I probably would have been happy with the bighorn lights too after coming from an 04, but this is my forever truck so I went all out with the Limited.
P.S. Welcome to HDRAMS!
Thanks, that’s the kind of feedback I like to hear. It’s been hard trying to find the right configuration off the lots.I wouldn’t bother with the air. I drive a 3500 dually long bed with 4:10 rearend. Its a Tradesman so not a lot of toys but, I liked the weight. I pull a 40ft 5er and also have a 91 gallon RDS aux tank in the bed.
It has the factory 5th wheel towing package
The one option I wish I would have gotten was the bed camera.
So I just picked my 3500 up today, it was tough turning over the keys to my 19 Limited but the 1.5hr drive home made me forget about it pretty quickly as the 3500 was a pleasure to drive and my wife loved it as she didn’t have to hear the Borla ATAK anymore.
Ha! More like night & day!Was it like a black and white difference?
