1st thing 1st, this is probably more applicable to Canadians that Americans, will explain now.
As prices on the used vehicles (trucks in particular) went up and most of the sold trucks are making their way South of the border, there's a shortage on the used car market (hence the higher prices).
I've seen quite a few mentions (Facebook and other forums) from Canadians that they upgraded their 19 and 20 MY trucks to 21 MY. Main reason being the return to CP3 in 21 MY, but they also saying that they got real good offers on their older trucks so they upgraded to newer.

The question I have, how much of a good deal did you get on your 19-20? How much upside down were you in your trade in?

Was it worth it? Maybe, but there are folks who change their trucks every few years regardless. Dumping a truck because of potential CP4 failure seems like a waste of money as there are now aftermarket options that aren't that expensive.

Upgrading to a newer truck sounds like a sweet option and an easy way out of potential CP4 issues, but being upside down on a trade in by $10-20k is a nah for me especially considering I've only got 10k kms on it. So would really like to hear from those who made that move.

Sold my 2020 3500 for $5000 less than what I paid for it after driving it for a year due to the CP4 issue. Thought about doing the after market CP3 conversion which is around $3000 and losing all warranty so just lost $2000 in my mind.

I sold my 2019 3500 DRW for exactly what I paid for it 16 months after buying it. 10,000 miles. I wanted nothing to do with the CP4. I bought a 2021.

I paid 80k last year only have 25k km on it dealer offered me 50k on trade i said no lol

Did you sell it privately or traded it in at a dealer?
Do dealers still give as god of the deals as they were a year or two ago?

Same question boat dude, was it a private sale or trade in at a dealer? That's a great deal you got on it!

When I bought the truck the sticker was $62,500. Paid $49,700. I sold it for $49,750. Only lost tax amount. Well worth it to me.

I am trading my 20 3500 in as soon as my 21 gets here and they are giving me $1700 less for trade then I bought it for last July ! So for me it was a no brainer and I got to add the options I forgot on the 20 to my 21.

I just checked the RAM builder website and to get the same configuration that I have, will cost now nearly CAD $10k more than what it was back in 2019, plus there are no incentives at this time, which is another $10k... Not worth it at this time.

This CP4 thing has people doing crazy chit.....
Better safe than sorry but yeah, some definitely go overboard...
I would chose to upgrade to an aftermarket rather than upgrading my truck if I'm going to be 10s of thousands out of pocket.

I paid $61k last February before taxes and was offered $63k cash from a dealer without them even seeing it. The KBB trade in estimated value is a $64k-$67k. Definitely making me think about walking away and selling the RV

The maintained high trade values should tell people that the CP4, although maybe not as engineered as well as the CP3, is not a wide spread issue and flooding the market with trade ins.

That's crazy how much higher it is in canada ! Over here in idaho the used prices are so high they are giving great trade value's towards new ones and if i ordered exactly what i did in 2020 it was only $800 more for a 21 .

With Amp steps, wheels, tires, and suspension I have almost 15K in additions now. Used prices are crazy here right now but I am probably too far down the mod path to sell mine without taking a bath. I will do the CP3 mod if Ram doesn't take care of us. If they don't take care of us it will be my last Ram though.
