Unplugging The EGR Valve

Not a chance I’m letting anyone tear into it. I’ll trade it before that. That’s just opening a can of worms in my opinion.

Yup. I’ve had a “wonderful” experience taking my last truck in for a problem which I believe was made worse after the molestation period. Needless to say I no longer have that truck. Am definitely curious if his cam and lifters are replaced and after some seat time, whether or not the noise comes back.

I’ve noticed, like others a tick at high idle predominantly coming from the passenger side. I listened to it with the hood up and it sounds like it’s coming from the EGR valve. So my question(s) is for those that may know better than I, if I unplug the EGR valve while my truck is running at high idle to test my theory, will the EGR cease to function while it is unplugged (eliminating the noise if my theory is correct) and will I cause any damage running with it unplugged? Also, will I need just to unplug the connection going into the EGR valve itself or is there other stuff to unplug to make it not work? I’m sure I’ll get a check engine light but I plan on clearing that out with my scanner.
That sounds like a failing lifter
