Under Tailgate DOT light ??

I got my light in the mail the other day.
I purchased the two push nuts
installed the light - there was a plug right behind the plate. I thought, SWEET!! It's for the light!! I have to do nothing but plug it in! But it wasn't the right plug. Not sure what it was for, but I thought I was lucky.

I have the "T" harness coming so I can wire it, was supposed to be here today, but it's been delayed due to 'weather' - so I'll tackle the wiring tomorrow. Probably easier to drop the tire, sit upright under the truck, and wire it! :)
 
Here are those plugs I was talking about. I don't have the parking sensors. Figured one of those would be for that. But I thought man! I just have to plug in this light and I am done. No, I wired them into the T harness I purchased so I didn't mess with the factory wires.
3rd picture, with the female plug is the plug for the DOT light. Doesn't match up. All those other plugs had 3 wires and the plug didn't match. Wonder what they are for?

I guess if you have to buy all the parts, connectors, etc. for a one and done and never do other wiring, it's a reasonable plug-n-play.

I do now recall I also added a 2-wire Aptiv connector when I wired mine up. Already had the kit.

Thats quite an inflated cost!
 
You should look a bit further up the frame rails for the connector. Maybe the factory/upfitter wiring schematic will so you the way. That light is designed for the dually so, with that, the harness also includes the leads/pigtail connectors for the 4 individual marker lights for the fender clearance lights. Two each side. Amber forward leading edge of the fender and red for the trailing edge of the fender. So you'll have 5 leads coming off the main connector wire bundle. Maybe a trip to your local Pick-a-Part and scope out a dually .
