Under Tailgate DOT light ??

Has anyone added the 3500 DOT light under the tailgate? I see there are holes there for the mounting of it.
Would this just plug in on a 2500? Harness there?

It plugs in on a 3500 SRW not a 2500 you will have to splice it in to the running light circuit

No, only the DRW has an existing connection.

P.S. I prefer not to do wire taps so if you're so inclined, you can just get this Curt 7-pin harness T and use that.

Side benefit is having the reverse circuit available on it if you want to wire up lights.

Installed it on mine, used some plastic nutserts with supplied hardware and then just tapped into my 7 pin harness.

Is there any legal issues with adding one? I like the look, but not at the expense of being hassled by the man.

@Jsboening shouldn’t have any problems running one. I’ve ran them on my past 3 trucks (non dually) and never had any issues.

If you mean the super bright LED light bars that blind everyone? Then yes. My local law enforcement is cracking down on them. Because they are blinding the $hit out of everyone. Just wondering if I’d be giving them a reason to be able to pull me over that’s all. I don’t see the harm in a few extra lights that don’t affect peoples vision.

Well if you are over 80” wide you need them legally so even if you got pulled over(you wont be but hypothetically) you just say you have a slide in rack thats over 80”

Nice. Hopefully they're also ticketing the non-DOT sh*ttee out of alignment headlights some d-bags put in their trucks.

Being the lamp is an OEM part, and just 3 LED, I doubt they'd hassle anyone.

They are even going after the side by sides on the trails because they are all blinding each other speeding down the trails day and night. Even ticketing for those lighted whips that flash blue and red like police flashers. About time it’s gotten at out of hand especially in areas we’re it’s legal to drive SXS on the edge of the road.

Hmm, looks good! I think if I were to add it I’d wire it to the brake lights to add a lower 3rd brake light

I had these laying around for whatever reason and they fit perfect in the existing holes.

I also installed a factory one, wired in to my license plate lights.
My light came with screw but no nuts.
