FCA's Uconnect 5 debuts with wireless Apple CarPlay, Alexa, user profiles
One of the best infotainment systems in the business is about to get faster, more features, and a fresh look.
Looks like it's built around the new hardware platform. It may need its processing power. I doubt this will be offered as a software update for previous generation.

So, any clue if this is taking effect right away on new builds?

Per the article, “FCA said Uconnect 5 will launch in A vehicle in 2020.” So it sounds like it is going to have limited release this year with more to follow in 2021.
Whatever happened to the days when an AM radio with five push buttons was all ya needed?![]()
I added wireless carplay to my 12" screen. You can find various solutions for pretty cheap. Mine works well.
What did you get?

I would love to hear what you think after using it for a little while! I have been reading a lot of reviews and there is a lot of mixed opinions on all of these adapters. A lot of it looks like it depends on what vehicle it is being used in. Some of the biggest concerns I seen after reading is:
1. Sometimes it does not want to reconnect to your phone when you first get into the vehicle. Unplug and plug back in and it works again.
2. Audio shows major lag after playing for 5+ minutes
3. Causes some pixelation when using navigation.
Look forward to seeing what you think.
I've been using it for about 6 months. I transferred it from my 5th gen 1500 with the 8.4" screen to my PW with the 12" screen.
1. Sometimes if you use the remote start it has problem connecting because it will time out searching for your phone. No need to unplug and plug back in. On your uConnect/carplay screen it will list your phone and you just tap on it to select it and will establish the connection to the phone. It uses bluetooth so it's as reliable as your bluetooth.
2. No lag for me and I've taken it on hours long road trips. I use Spotify and apple/google maps all at the sametime 99% of the time with no lag.
3. Have not noticed any pixelation.
Quite a few people using it on the 5thgenrams.com site. We had a group buy on it.
