Hello,

Are you currently working with your dealer to get your specific concerns diagnosed? If you'd like to follow up via private message with more details about the symptoms you've been experiencing, I can certainly look into that.

Thanks,

Courtney

No, I haven't taken it into the dealer yet.

Not being able to reproduce it reliably is keeping me from bringing it in. Unless I have the time to record it to show the service advisor, I don't see the benefit.

Purchased a new 2020 ram 2500 laramie about 5 months ago & have right at 3,000 miles. I am having the same issues with radio having no sound, the volume controls do not work, I can receive a call (no sound to alert of a call just shows on the screen), I can answer calls using the steering wheel button but can not hear anything yet they can hear me. Been to the two different shops. The first time was for 3 days and as of yet the second shop has had it 3 days & has no idea what is causing the issues & keep telling me they have never had anyone else have this issue. I have explained I have seen it a lot in forums yet they still insist it is not a common issue or one they have seen. Not only am I have a radio issue, my tailgate was never aligned properly & has a gap on one side, tailgate looks like it isn't closed all the way, and large gaps around one of the tail lights & not the other. They said it can't be aligned & have now diagnosed the tailgate issue with a bad stamping on one side of the bed. They offered to cut the bed & repair or a new bed. Of course I went with the new bed as I didn't want them piecing things together. Road in my back seat for the first time over the weekend & I ALWAYS use seat warmers because of my bad back & after 7 surgeries, the seat warmer is like a heating pad & helps ease the pain. I had never been in the back and upon turning it on, it does not work! Both front seats work fine but the rears do not. Then it rained Wednesday on the way to take truck to dealership & my auto wipers would not come on. It was pouring rain & no wipers. If I turned them on manually they would adjust the speed on their own based on how hard it was raining or fast o was going but not come on automatically. I assume since this feature is controlled on the 12 in display is why it is not working properly. Total spent on this truck was $85k (purchased a few extra warranties) and I feel for that kind of money I shouldn't be having issues like this. Im really starting to question if this truck is even worth having at this point.

I bought a 2020 ram 3500 Laramie in Oct 2020 and at I brought the truck to the dealer with about 300 miles on it for the back up camera would flicker and the radio will just load , no volume controls, no phone controls and I have had the truck at the dealer longer than I have owner it and the replace the radio the screen the camera module and cameras and just picked the truck up a week ago and it mage it 3 days before it did the same thing again. Im taking it back to the dealer again i think this will be the 8th or 9th time for this concern. i dont know what else thay cane replace now to correct the concern. im just glad my $85k truck that has 1500 mile on it cant get fixed. Has anyone have any luck getting theirs fixed? This is getting really old i just want my truck to work.

Hello,

I've had the same issues in my 2020 3500 Limited Dually. I have less than 700 miles on it. intermittent lockout of SiriusXm, Bluetooth, Terrestrial Radio and volume controls.

I took it to a Ram Dealership. They updated software and couldn't replicate the problem so they figured it was working. As soon as I fired up my rig, SiriusXm went into loading mode, volume was stuck, couldn't access AM/FM or Bluetooth. The problem wasn't fixed. I hadn't left the dealership so I grabbed the Service Writer. He was just as stumped as I was that the unit was locking. He ordered a new radio/unit. They installed it. It seemed to work for a few days and then it started doing the same thing. I messaged the Service Writer today and they are ordering another head unit. (My service department is an awesome bunch of folks).

My thoughts were that there may possibly be something going on with the Bluetooth connection from my S20 and the Uconnect/Radio System. The Service Writer assisting me didn't think so b/c it's not just a streaming issue.

So this is a "to be continued" episode. I'll report back after I get the new head unit.

Thanks.

Just started having an issue where my XM will stop playing and switch to the system nav and Bluetooth hybrid screen about every other minute. 2k on the truck. Really? Starting to regret the 12” already

Seems that it's not just me that's having troubles with all the technology in these trucks. Three issues I'm having:

My truck is a 2019 3500 dually CTD <20K miles, I have the 12 inch screen as well. I live in SE Texas and it gets hot down here. On two separate occasions I've gotten into my truck on a pretty warm day (high 80's low 90's) and of course I turn the A/C on low and set the fan to 4. Start to drive away and all of a sudden the fan increases to full (7) and the temp goes all the way to high with an unresponsive screen and side buttons. The only way I could regain control was to pull over, shut the truck down, wait a few minutes, and restart. Took it to the dealership and they gave me a "Star Online Publication" that essentially states that what I experienced was normal operation (PFA). Pretty sure I just had smoke blown up my arse. And they had my truck for nearly a week and I needed it back to get to work so I just left. So frustrating.

My GPS signal is now gone, so I can't look up an address and start directions. All I get is the spinning wheel of death and the words "Searching Offline," and the little cellular signal indicator to the left of the search bar has the little circle with the line through it signifying no GPS signal. Told the dealership about this too, and they just said you'll have to wait for the manufacturer to send the update via cellular signal. Now call me crazy but if the system has no signal how am I supposed to get the update?

Lastly, on several occasions I'll be driving and one of the proximity sensors will go off. I've done the reasonable thing and cleaned off all the sensors but even one time right after a wash they'll go off. It pretty intermittent so I can't even reproduce the issue to video it so I guess I'm stuck with that one.

I know some of these complaints are trivial and maybe petty but dang it we spend our hard earned money, upwards of $80K, you'd think that they would work a bit better than this. Just so frustrating, specially when the dealerships just seem to want you out of there shop so they tell you whatever it takes.

Anyway, nothing has gotten so bad that I would switch brands...yet.

Unreal they are STILL having these issues. Bought a new 19 1500 and had to get rid of it due to all of the issues, including the ones mentioned on this page. Completely unreliable vehicle and one that was supposed to be our retirement vehicle. Never again.

I understand. Some people do find it helpful to capture their symptoms on photo/video so their dealers have a better understanding of what their symptoms are. However, since we do not like to speculate on the causes of anyone's concerns since you may have similar symptoms but various causes, we recommend that you seek a proper diagnosis from your Ram dealer. Our team can certainly get extra support arranged for you while you're working with your dealers to get these concerns resolved. Therefore, if you do happen to capture these behaviors on camera and set up an appointment with your dealer, please do not hesitate to follow up via private message.

If anyone would like us to investigate their unique symptoms and vehicle behaviors privately, I'd be happy to collect your information and look into it further.

Thanks,

Courtney

Add me to the list. Bought a 2021 Power Wagon last week and lost all audio on my way to work this morning. Grrrr

I'm having the same issue with 2019 Power Wagon. Extremely aggravating as I have a hard time driving without music. 1st world problems, I know, I know. Then I remember how much I paid for the truck and I get aggravated again! I've taken it to the dealership and received it back with a "Worked fine for us" and a "bring it back if it happens again". Not only is it still like winning the lotto when it does work, now audio is shifting between all the speakers, from the front, to the back to the side. @RamCares, any updates on this? It's not easy to leave a vehicle at a dealer for 3+ days (with no loaner to boot) with no fix.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.
What a joke. Still the same response years later. Nothing ever gets resolved. I will open a case (of beer) if Ram ever builds a reliable vehicle.

I have not had that issue since I changed my system to not start up on SiriusXM. (Knocks on wood)

I feel like I finally someplace that knows what I am talking about....of course I have videos...tons of them! Nobody can seem to do anything with them though...

2020 1500, 12" system. 18k miles. Bought new.

1) If iPhone is tethered into USB port before I start the truck, radio starts with BOTH XM playing, AND static noise from AM radio. I have to click through all sources (XM, FM, AM, BT) to clear this one out.
2) If iPhone is tethered into USB and I am using navigation app on the phone (Apple/Google/Waze), radio will randomly stop playing ANY audio and never works again until vehicle has been off for hours. I do notice the little red navigation icon in red next to the volume indicator at the top of the screen, almost like the radio thinks I want to turn the navigation voice down....but nothing actually happens at all.
3) WiFi hotspot - it comes and goes as it pleases. Kids can be on iPads and all at once they will all notice the WiFi just stops. I have to go into radio settings/apps and go to WiFi and press the checkmark to turn it back on. Sometimes, it may not come back on until after vehicle is off a few hours.
4) A/C works when it feels like working. A/C buttons are lit up on the display, but compressor isn't moving. Sometimes it will, but sometimes it won't. Sometimes, it will start then quit 30 minutes later.

I literally just dropped the truck at the dealership 1 hour ago. Service person asked why it took so long to bring it to them and I said that everyone of these issues is intermittent. I told her that am fairly certain they will not get to experience any of these and they will just give me the truck back and say no issues were found. I told her I was just avoiding my next meltdown by not bringing it in, but now it is summer and I really want my A/C. I left lots of videos...but I still expect that nothing will actually be found, and like many of you here, I am going to have to take the truck in once a week like you all have to do.

RAM Cares? Do you? Or are you just good listeners? This thread is from Sept 2020 and I did not read one entry that said - "They fixed it".

Will update when I get an update.

I had picked out a 2500 Laramie, but am now pausing b/c they all have 12in radios. No excuse for this at $76K-$88K. If you can make it reliable, then it’s too complicated. It’s a radio, for the love...Simple and reliable is infinitely better than fancy and unreliable.

This is why Toyota has DEVOURED all of the Big 3 in the 1/2 ton market despite having a design that is approx 14 years old and feels like a dugout bench.

c’mon RAM.

Love my 12" radio. Most people don't have problems. Like anything on the Internet, you will see more complaints than praise.

Not sure Toyota has devoured the sales in the truck market. Toyota is still way behind the big three in sales for 1/2 ton trucks.

We have a 2020 2500 Larimine longhorn mega cab. We started having the radio issue a few months ago. When you start the truck the radio just continuously trys to log into the Sirus satellite radio system. When this is happening nothing in the radio system works including the phone system (nothing connected to the sound system).
We made a appointment with a local dealer to have it checked. As it happens, it did the malfunction when I started the truck up to drive to the dealer. I should note that it does not happen all the time. It happens about 50 percent of the time. When we arrived at the dealer they could see that it was not working, but could not say why and couldn’t recreate the problem when they restarted the truck. They decided to order a new radio and they installed it. Well, two days after the install it started doing it again. I called the dealer’s service department and they now say I have to leave the truck for a few days so they can try and make the malfunction occur again (even though they saw it for themselves and I sent a video).
This is a $85k truck that should not be having these issues. And the fact that Ram has no idea why this is occurring is disturbing. I have owned 4 Ram trucks and have been very happy with them up until now. But if this can’t be fixed, this will be my last Ram.

Mine started doing the same thing last week. If I start the car up on FM everything works fine but if you try to start the car up on Sirius XM everything will become basically unresponsive. Logic would dictate that this is a software issue, not a hardware issue. It wouldn’t surprise me that replacing the touchscreen does nothing at all as it’s probably loaded with the same software. I think it’s up to Uconnect as well as SiriusXM to come up with the fix for this. I’ll take my truck to the dealer tomorrow to see if they have any ideas.

FIXED!
Ok well I took my own advice above, went to SiriusXM site on my phone. Went to “contact us” then to “fix radio problems by sending a refresh signal” . Went to the truck and while engine running found the radio ID and followed the process. Voila, fixed. If anyone else solves their issue with this sequence I’d love to know. If my issue recurs I’ll post back, but it’s been several restarts and all is still well.
