U Connect 5 Radio Presets Keep Disappearing

I'm stuck on 141, it hasn't updated.

There was an update that went out the end of last week. When I hit what's new, it was blank. Did anyone else get the same thing?

Mine updated to 160 about 2 weeks ago. I did not select what's new so I do not know what was changed. For what its worth my system went from 145 to 160, everything is still working great. Also, I had my radio replaced last month for preset/theme resetting. New radio had 145 on it when I picked up truck from dealer. My theme would literally change every time I drove the truck. Hope this issue never returns, very annoying.

2022 2500 LoneStar 8.4 non-nav here that i took delivery of on 4/25. In the last 5 days my XM presets have disappeared twice. Im not sure which software version i have. I will check that out in a bit. Truck has a whopping 375 miles on it.

Since this last update, I have noticed a few random freezes in the backup camera. There was a recall two updates ago that was for freezing. I have never had that trouble before. I don't know if its update related.

I'm amazed. An operating system that's now 6 years old (Android 8) and they still have trouble. My Android phone (Android 13) updates apps literally every day. Some apps update once a week for bugs and such.

Yet, here we are, multiple updates to fix an issue that shouldn't be there in the first place, buttons forget what they are?

It certainly doesn't build much confidence on any problems one might have with a manufacturer's vehicles if they can't correct something this simple. Mine is in the shop right now because even they couldn't get it to update from 141 to any newer version. They're saying they may have to replace the radio.

Now, has anybody ever had an Android phone that could not be updated if there was one available? It seems to me Stellantis hasn't laid the law down on the manufacturer of the radio to update Android, at least security parches, and fix their obvious flaws. If I can buy a $99 Android phone that works perfectly with dozens of apps from multiple vendors, one would certainly think a radio with relatively ancient software that only has a few functions all built and programmed by the same people would work.

I lost confidence in the software engineers at Stellantis a month after I had my truck. The infusions of software-driven everything is one reason I tried to get as little tech as possible with this new rig. Even then, everything from the engine, transmission, brakes, and horn runs through some data bus requiring code to run - even the frigging horn!! Ahhhh for the old days of having to use ones brain and actual physical movement (rolling down windows, turning a knob for AM/FM, etc) to move down the road. Call me a Luddite, but back then I could fix everything on my rigs and now I can fix very little.

Well, this is interesting. My service writer, who's always been square with me, talked to both the Star techs and to Uconnect. Both said my particular radio, a non nav 8.4, latest software is 141 and there is no updates. My truck is a March build. My friend's truck is an April build and has version 1.45 on his 8.4 non nav.

He was surprised since he said he's updated some other radios to 145.

My 8.4 non-Nav is on 160. Something is fishy.

It seemed odd to me too. I may try to get the part number from the radio. I can't imagine they used two different radios but I guess it's possible.

Then it wouldn’t use the same 141 software as the other radio.

I was told that the standard site for checking for software updates does not apply anymore, maybe that’s the issue.

I haven't had any real trouble with mine like some others have.

I have an appointment on the 21st with my dealer so they can do a software update. Lets see if that will cure my problem

Was just at the dealer and they said mine is currently up to date (141) but should have an over the air update. I don't ever recall having my radio update. Radio presets still are disappearing. Truck is just over 1 year old now.

141 is not current, sounds like a lazy dealership.

My 141 never did an OTA update, but it did OTA from 145 to 160. I’d try a different dealer.

Yea. They should be able to manually update it for you and not force you to wait for the OTA which may never happen. It’s not up to date if there are updates out there for it.

As stated above, find a new dealer. The 141 version is over a year old and it sounds like yours is not updating automatically. Are you having any issues with your theme resetting on start up? The reason I ask is my presets were not saving and my theme was randomly resetting back to theme 1 (factory setting). The dealer replaced my stereo and it fixed both of my issues, been a few months and everything has been good. Hope you get it sorted, finding a good dealer is hard these days...... best of luck.

I did have my theme reset a few times. I will try another dealer and see what they say.

This one is odd. Same dealer updated a friend's truck from 141 but said mine had no update for 141. When I mentioned this he said this was directly from Uconnect.
