So, should I drop the coin for one of these?

Being a bit over $700 (taxes) is it that much better than a $200 one on Amazon?

I can't compare it to a $200 cover off amazon where the company name doesn't have any vowels, but I've had two X15's. I bought one for my 2019 1500 Ram which stayed on there until I traded it, and bought another X15 for my PW.

They do a decent job of keeping moisture out, and the top material on the one i traded was 5 years old but still looked brand new, still jet black. I also bought it specifically because of the low profile. I don't have any highlighting shots of the top specifically, but you can get the idea in this one.

I have the X15 on my 2019 Ram 1500 (now the Wife's truck). It weathered reasonably well in 7yrs but has started to separate on the bent areas and I'm using black Gorilla tape for now. For my 2026 Bighorn 2500, I bought the Tyger T2 low profile. Had it on a couple of weeks, looks good and pretty close to the quality of the Truxedo X15 Pro, say an 8.5 out of 10. Paid under $200 for the Tyger and the Truxedo is running about $600 right now. All in all, I'm very satisfied.

I walk past an older one at work. The canvassy fabric seems to be holding up well and the "even with the rail" mounting would work well with my elevate rack rails. It's one of the few soft covers I'd spend money on, if I felt like dealing with velcro was a good solution.

I will say that for all the truck hero covers (bak, truxedo, extang, etc.) they're really good about shipping warranty parts or full replacements.

I have had my X-15 for five years. My next truck will also have one. I also installed Truxedo's stake pocket caps.

I have had one on my 21 coming up on 5years now. Still looks like new.

Bought a Gator brand tri fold in Feb of 2025.
Has been a good tonneau for the money.
I live in the PNW where we get lots of rain and the top started pooling between frame folds.
It can trap and puddle significant amounts of water. So I added split 1" foam waterline insulation to each frame, x 4.
It raised each section just enough to drain off nicely. I have to give up a flat and smooth look in winter.

I like the Truxedo products. Not meaning anyone should spend more than they feel like spending, I get it that from a price/quality standpoint you may do fine with a cheaper product. From talking to a few friends over the years I get the impression that here in the NH climate a cheaper product may have more of a chance of lasting, we have huge temp swings but not nearly as much intensive UV from the sun as someone in the heat belt.

I have 2 pieces of flex seal tape covering holes on my OEM cover that came with my Ram. The problem was that I'm an idiot, didn't snap the cover open and the back section flopped over from the breeze when driving and I had 2 gas cans with spouts that punched 2 holes when it crashed down. I looked in my mirror at the spouts sticking out and all I could do was laugh as my own stupidity. But that tape is amazing, sealed it up completely.
