The OEM turbo for stock tuning and power.

Are you tuning the truck? What are your goals?

For towing heavy you’ll want the exhaust brake to remain functional, so that limits upgraded turbos to modified OEM turbos and a couple of larger Holset VGT’s. There may be others, but those are the ones I know about.
 
Has been deleted. Not going to do any big tunes just want reliability. Broken exhaust bolts. Want a good reliable set up.

I’d stick with a stock, or mildly modded, stock turbo. The cam on the C&C’s is reportedly a lower rpm cam, so you really don’t need a big compressor wheel for what you’re doing.
 
You should call Calibrated Power (Duramax Tuner), they have done tons of research on this and offer a few different options. They have a few youtube videos on their 4th gen truck pulling some heavy loads on their turbos. You definitely want to stick with a VGT turbo so you retain your exhaust brake.

If I remember correctly the stock turbo when pushed hard starts to have excessive back pressure (no bueno). Again , call CP and they can dive deep into this subject.

Holset…

The C&C uses a slightly different setup, so you’ll need to talk to companies that modify the turbos to see if they have one for your C&C. They can also help you pick the correct mods, if you want to go that route.

Steed Speed (I think they make a 19+ manifold), ATS (worked well on my 05), and AFE all come to mind for exhaust manifolds.
 
You can go with a non VGT turbo and add an inline exhaust brake too
