Turbo Speed Sensor Error

To be blunt, getting more than a little buyers remorse at this point with the '20 2500 CTD. Picked up the truck from a different service issue yesterday and didn't even get out of the parking lot when the check engine light came on. Service was closed, left the truck (again) with the dealer (wasted 1.5 hour drive to pick it up). Dealer calls today and says it's a faulty Turbo Speed Sensor. Part is backordered for a month, but claims FCA says it's fine to drive. Anybody have any knowledge about this one? Concerned that if it controls boost pressure, could end up really creating an issue with fuel mixture and the engine getting too leaned out. Between the water leaks, an issue with the transmission, the CP4 risks and now this, I honestly would not buy the truck again - but here we are. I'd just like to know if I can use the truck safely or if it's going to be a garage queen.

If you have it in writing that the service manager said you could drive it, than why not ? sounds like you have more issues than worrying about the engine getting leaned-out.

It should be fine to run, the speed sensor is only one of several sensors in that chain and it will run with it faulted. It's main purpose is to monitor for over speed. As long as the MAP, MAF, IAT, back pressure sensor are working it will continue as normal.
Unfortunately pretty much any part for any vehicle is a possible hold up at this point. Manufacturing and Supply chains have taken a hit with covid shut downs.

Thanks, I appreciate the answers. Waiting on RAM/FCA to call today/tomorrow about the case I opened. If only this were the first component that failed and needed to be replaced in less than 4000 miles..... Shouldn't have to worry about supply chain with a brand new vehicle IMHO. It's a shame, but I have less confidence hauling with this new truck now than I did with my 300k mile '04 5.9. My issue is that a roadside failure is a big deal for me. If you're hauling multiple horses getting stranded on the side of the road 6 hours from home is a much bigger deal than just casual driving or even when pulling an RV or car hauler. That was the entire reason for buying the truck - peace of mind.

Just got off the phone from customer (un)care. That was a real confidence killer. I don't know why the organization even exists. I'm supposed to send a written letter requesting my case notes - as there is no other way to see what is documented. Suffice it to say, I feel less optimistic now than I did yesterday which is not good to start with. This has really been a downer.
