Anyone hear anything? I've heard rumors about a true 5th gen Ram HD, adopting the cab from the 1500s with the twin panel moonroof in 2022.

No one will know until they announce it or someone sees one. Given the current HD trucks are only in their second model year and are completely new aside from the cab sheet metal I’d find it very unlikely they’ll replace them that fast. I could be wrong, but I wouldn’t expect anything until at least ‘25.

2022 was what was shown on FCA's timeline chart, but many things have changed, so who knows if that will hold true?

With all the competition for towing, torque, horsepower, and mileage ratings, I wouldn't be surprised if Ram spends more effort on engines than cabs.

There are significant differences between the 2019 and prior trucks. I’d venture to say that the cab is one of the few significant unchanged parts.

Something is coming around the 2020 HD with cummins engine.... ..... Just a hunch here.. nothing scientific and I can't back it up with any announcements.....using RAMtrucks to find a 2020 cummins shows they are very rare and either production has slowed down or they are working inventory down to make room for the new capabilities......

Just wondering if this could be due to a parts shortage to fix an issue with the transmission on the standard output Cummins?

You may also consider they only started producing them in November. And.. there are a lot of 2019 still available for sale.

And since they have to take downtime to retool for a new model, they would actually build up inventory to offset downtime.

I wonder if RAM is offering dealers a discount on Hemis since they sold so many more Cummins in 2019. There have been way more Cummins than Hemis on the lots all through 2019.

There are a lot of 2019's still on lots around here, and very few 2020's. Dealers in our area typically only list 1, maybe 2 of the 2020's. Mostly Tradesman, a few Big Horns, a Laramie, and a Power Wagon. About 1/4th of them are marked "in transit."
