Truck won't unlock after remote start

I just joined the site after reading this post. I have a 2020 Ram 2500 Big Horn (manufactured Oct-20) with factory remote start and have the same unlock/lock issues. I had the truck back at the dealership last Tuesday (01/19/21). They had a truck in the week before with the same issue so they pre-ordered a new RF hub for mine (didn't tell me if that fixed the issue with the other truck or not and I didn't ask). I was there for 3 hours while they replaced the hub and replaced one key fob after one of the two failed to reprogram. Took the truck home and guess what, still will not unlock without multiple attempts pressing unlock. I contacted Ram Care and initiated a case. Of course they told me in order to advance the case, I had to schedule another appointment. This time I am going to my local dealership so I don't have to take a day off work. New appointment is February 8 so I will let you all know how it goes.
Is yours a level 2 big horn?

Figured I would add to this thread....Bought my 2020 last month and this was one of the first things I noticed after getting home. If I remote start the truck it takes multiple attempts for the FOB to unlock the truck....guess I'll just wait for a fix to get pushed to RAM.....

I have a 2500 Tradesman and mine does the same dang thing.
I have a 2020 ram 3500 bighorn that I bought in September, mfg date is in July, came with factory remote start, and I also have this issue. Have tried new batteries, and both fobs. Unlocks like a champ, until the truck is started. Then i can stand right at the door of the truck, and sometimes it unlocks, and others not. I find pressing and holding the unlock button and waiting for it to unlock seems to work better than pressing it multiple times, but there is definately an issue here that ram needs to look at. I havent had time to make it to the dealer for them to have a look but mine would definately be a warranty thing, as the truck is bone stock.
Mine was made during the same time and purchased during the same time period! Mine was installed after I bought it by the dealer and it is RAM parts. It has a mind of its own!

For what is worth I called today to check the update as mine was brought in on Dec 22 so figured they might have some information. I gave the the star case number that @Jimmy07 provided but they said that star case did not pertain to my particular vehicle. They said they are still waiting on the RFH module.

My 2021 2500 Laramie is having the same issue, luckily I have the passive entry so it’s not a huge concern, can’t even imagine how much of a pain it would be if I didn’t... Hopefully they get it figured out soon.

My truck didn't come with passive entry I wanted to add it in the near future. But because of the remote starter unlock problem I installed it couple of weeks ago. Never had one and it's nice to be able to open the truck without removing key from my pocket.

I looked into that but not cheap.

It’s actually pretty cheap, considering what you’re buying-
- door handles
- $8 antenna
- set of front door add on harnesses (I built the ones for kristof)
That’s all that’s needed. You’ll be ahead of you don’t currently have the black textured door handles.

yes I would need the handles and doesn't need to be programed?

Don't take my reply wrong , I do appreciate you guys follow this forum but unfortunately I did start a case with you guys and after dealer charged me for buying new FOB (cause they said the FOB I had was causing the issue) and then charged me for rewiring remote starter (cause they said the wiring cause the issue) You guys told me you can't help me because the MOPAR remote starter was installed by dealer AFTER I purchased the truck. Which is considered AFTERMARKET parts. So you said I'm on my own. I lost over $200 to an issue that isn't my fault at all.

I have a level 2 2020 big horn with the same problem. Let us know what they say. I took mine to the dealer and all they told me was there was no update for the fob. Couldn't tell me why it won't unlock

Seems like this must be too complicated of an issue for the ram engineers to figure out.
I was just sitting here thinking the same thing. Is it really a software problem? Then why only some are affected if they use same software for all trucks?

Same reason there are software updates for any device- to fix bug issues. It’s always possible for everyone to be running the exact same software on a particular device, and some will never have issues, some have issues right off the bat, and some don’t have issues....until one day, they do

I'm not a software engineer but I thought they just make one copy and load it on all trucks :) . I still think it's more then the software problem.

I never use the unlock button on my remote since I have passive entry so I tested it to see if I had this problem. It all worked fine on my truck. Strange problem.

imagine some lady getting mugged in the mall parking lot because she remote started her truck walking out from Dillards........gets to the truck and can't get it in while a couple of thugs decide to take advantage of the situation.....dang should be a safety recall....caution using remote start can result of mall parking lot muggings.
