I'll soon be doing a service on my 68RFE. Looking for some opinions on installing a PPE pan at the same time which would hold approximately 3 more quarts of fluid. Is there any truth to the hype that this will decrease the operating temperature, or, is it just another after market solution to a problem that doesn't really exist? I don't tow heavy, but do tow a 6K lb travel trailer through mountains quite often.

It won’t change operating temperatures one bit. More fluid just takes a bit longer to heat up is all.

I put one in, and the drain plug is invaluable. It’s a nice piece.

I added a deep Mag Hi-Tec pan to my 46RE, it did NOT have any effect on trans temps. Like TP said, it just prolongs the inevitable by a few extra miles. BUT yeah, that drain plug was nice.
