Transmission Screech or Belt? 2020 Cummins H.O. 3500

Picked it up from the dealer today, put about 300 miles on the drive back. Opened it up a little a number of times (not full throttle or anything crazy), the transmission does an odd hunting like kickdown (maybe normal I guess?), but when backing off the throttle, there is this moment that sounds like a screech when it goes into OD or perhaps the upshift.

I guess the best way to describe it is like a regular manual transmission clutch that makes an awful chattering screech noise when it slips until it regrips. I thought perhaps the belt is just new and is just slipping a bit until everything seats, but it's definitely not squeal so I doubt it.

Anyone else experience this? I mean it's audible enough to where my wife was like what was that.

I have read reports of the Aisin making a sort of groaning sound under certain conditions, and never heard of any problems stemming from it. Your Aisin is still learning, so it may settle down after a bit. Fortunately, that is one "feature" that, so far, I have not experienced.

I guess it could be described as "chirp" too.

I'm not going to bring it in just yet and maybe it just needs more hours, but it's definitely not something you expect to hear.

I had a 1/2 ton Ferd gasser company truck that would make a blood curdling screech if you were pretty heavy on the foot-feed, like merging onto a highway, and backed off due to traffic ahead. Ford's answer, "they all do that".

Drive it like ya stole it for a few thousand on the ODO. I had herky/jerky stuff goin on when the truck was new but we're all good these days.

Hi @R.J. - If at any point you decide to address this with your dealer, please do not hesitate to follow up with us via private message so that we may get you connected with a specialist for further support through that process.

My truck is also doing this exact thing when shifting from 3rd to 4th. It doesn't happen if you are light on the throttle but if you are accelerating decently there is a definite loud chirp that can be heard over the radio. I have had a few passengers ask what the sound was which was kind of embarrassing when you are trying to show off your new truck. Haha. It will be going to the dealer in a few days for a few random things so they will look at it then but I am fully prepared to be told that it is "normal".

Yeah, I suspect they give it a once over and tell you to put more miles on it. Please let us know how it turns out.

I'm going to put more miles on it before taking it in.

Its scheduled to go in next Monday so we will see what they say. The more bothersome issue is that the P will blink and I can't shut the truck off when the gear shift is in Park some times. I have to jiggle it around until its happy. That one I can reproduce on command so hopefully they can fix it pretty easily.
