I was pulling my new 3600 lb. trailer yesterday with my 24,000 mile 2022 Power Wagon. I was travelling at 65 mph using the cruise control, Tow/Haul mode. and was monitoring all the oil, engine, and transmission temps which were all good when several things happened in quick succession:

1) Cruise control kicked off.
2) Truck started slowing down despite my attempt to maintain speed.
3) Accelerator pedal wouldn't allow me to push it forward.
4) "Check transmission" popped up on my dash display
5) "Check Engine" light came on.

I pulled over to the side of the road, turned the engine off, waited 30 seconds then restarted the truck. The truck ran like nothing was wrong except the 'Check Engine' light stayed on. Today I checked my truck with my OBDII reader and found one confirmed code - Gear 7 Incorrect ratio, one permanent code - Gear 7 incorrect ratio, and one transmission Control Module code - Gear 7 Incorrect ratio. The truck is still running fine, just with the check engine light on. Anyone have any ideas what's going on with my Power Wagon?

Dig around for a TSB.

I posted here a while back about my 23. Searched the net and found this. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2024/MC-10251828-9999.pdf

"
Customers may experience one or more of the following:
● "Service Transmission" message in the Instrument Cluster panel (IPC).
● Erratic shift bump felt/heard.
● Transmission stuck in seventh gear.
● Inability to accelerate.
● Not enough power to tow"

But that's for a 23

Had the dealer flash it and solved my problem. Trans didn't like being shoved down the mountains as the cruise control was trying to hold speed by dropping a gear. Same thing, gear icon, limp mode, nothing hot, ect. Pull over, shut off restart and everything fine. Very specific to the area I drive in WV.

The issue never presented itself anywhere else.

ETA, I don't think mine ever stored a code though.

It appears the problem was nothing other than a temporary glitch, the "Check Engine" light was off but I took my truck to the local dealership yesterday anyway and they put the truck on their scan tool and told me all codes had cleared. They could see the codes had been stored but weren't active. If it happens again I'll take it back in for a deeper dive. Truck's running fine currently.

"Temporary glitch", I Iike that. More than likely, you found a hole in the code that the software engineer didn't anticipate. Same as in my case.

I hope they at least looked to see if there was a newer software version available for you.

The first dealer I went to flat out lied and told me there was no TSB for my issue and I didn't know how to drive the truck. I dug it up on my own, printed it out and took it to a different service dept. They ran the VIN and said it matches the range for the TSB and we'll flash it for you. No problem.

In other words, you can't always trust what you're being told is factual.

Don't get me wrong. I think it's a great transmission. But it's all electronic and relies on well written software.

Mine recently did the same thing towing my son's broken 4runner from GA to FL. Cruise control and Tow Mode on .. All of sudden 7th gear message, cruise off and no power. Luckily I was right at entrance to a Rest Area on 75 south. Tried revving engine and just woudn't budge. I ended up turning off truck and then restarting and that reset something. Made it another 400 miles after that without another error. Was definitely worried the entire time .. hasn't happened again but haven't towed again either.
