Hi Everyone,
New member here. Just bought a 2020 2500 Laramie diesel with the night package. Love the truck! I thought I read somewhere that the Transforce 285/60R20’s are absolute junk, and recommended to be sold and replaced ASAP while you can still get some cash for them.
Can anyone verify if this is indeed the case?

many response is much appreciated. I have 400 miles on the truck as of now, and want to make the move ASAP if recommended!

Are you having problems with them ? They will not last too long probably 30,000 if lucky . If they are causing you no problems just keep them until they wear out . You are not going to get much for them anyway. As long as they are working for you that is all that matters . One Man's joy is another Man's sorrow .

I won't put the same tires back on, but they're not doing anything "bad", so until they wear out, I'm running them!

I already have replacement tires waiting on my truck. When I pick the truck up at the dealer, I'm going straight to the tire shop. Nothing wrong with keeping the OEM's until you wear them out if you don't hate them. At least that will give you a baseline to which you can compare the replacement tires.

Almost 20k so far and two rainy seasons in Flori-duh and they have been fine so far.

Most of the complaining I've seen is they aren't 'aggresive' enough for an AT tire...but there other AT tires out there which are also not 'aggeesive".

I got 9500kms (6000miles) on mine before i changed em the rears were at 1/2 from towing fronts were down lots too, i got 500$ for em and bought new ones, i would have kept them if i didn't plow with the truck but they are garbage in snow i have no idea why thats the tire you get with the snow chief pkg

Mine were fine, even on some torn up muddy fire roads, I just am genetically predisposed to put bigger tires on my trucks as soon as I can, so that’s why they had to go.

Factory tires always have a softer rubber compound . But the same tire from a tire store and they will last longer . The manufacturers don’t want their trucks sliding around . Neighbor had Wranglers on his 22000 miles later new tires no towing .

Thats a huge myth, no tire manufacture would ruin their name in such a way, plus a couple of my contacts that work at the goodyear tire factory have told me their is no difference in the factory tires vs tire shops tires

Transforce tires (marked M+S) were downright dangerous in just a couple of inches of snow.

I have Duratracs on my wife's 1500 and Wildpeak AT3Ws on my 2500. Proper tires make a world of difference on any vehicle. It's the only part of your truck that touches the road!

I got 50,000 miles on the OEM Transforce AT on my last truck (2016 2500), pretty happy with that.
I do agree they are lousy in snow, so I have some Wildpeak AT3W's on order for my new 3500. But now I'm being told it might be Feb before I see them, so I may be looking again.

They must have been slicks by that time as mine was 1/2 tread on the rears from towing at 6000miles

They were down to 3/32" but I was in the southwest at the time so I let them go longer for sure. But, I really did surprisingly good with them as that includes about 20,000 miles of towing a 5th wheel.
On my 2014, I got a smokin deal to trade so let it go with only about 25,000 miles on it. The OEM tires looked good, but I didn't measure them. I think I might have got to 40,000 or more if I would have kept going.
I do rotate every 5,000 miles, and do air up and down when loaded or empty, but it does seem I got better than normal mileage out of them. Maybe I drive easy on tires as I often get about the rated mileage on all my vehicles. (exception on the last set on my BMW 335xi; I didn't go with BFG this time and really regret it)

But, even though I am happy with the mileage, I still don't think the tire is very good in anything other than dry pavement.

I usually get what the tires are rated for in miles but they just really sucked i looked at them at 5000miles and decided not to rotate them instead replace em i usually rotate them at 5000km or about 3000 miles

Weird huh? I guess I fluked out and you got the worst of it.

Ah, ok, interesting.
I actually was hoping they would wear out faster as I really didn't like the tires; wet or snow and you have to watch, and they are just ok otherwise.
So, now this time, I'm ordering new wheels and tires right away and of course with the supply chain issues they are telling me they can't get them for weeks, ugh.

Oh well, I will be careful in the snow and survive until I can get the replacements.

Summary;
-the good? Mileage ok for me, but I guess inconsistent as it's not good for others. Noise level is also good.
-the bad? Wet is adequate, but there are better options.
-the ugly? Snow. Use 4x4 most of the time and take it easy. Much better options out there.

Im glad to hear others had better luck than me I cant believe thats the tires you get when you have the snow chief pkg

The factory tires ride fine, but they kind of suck in the rain.

Wouldn’t know. Got rid of them the first week or so.

they were ugly and small and the chrome tradesman wheels were awful. I got $400 for the factory wheels and tires.
