Trailer running lights without truck headlights?

2023 Grand Cherokee.

What does her uConnect call the signature lights?

My wife's Gladiator is just like my Ram. There is an option for DRL's, which are a white LED by the turn signal on the fender, but no option for the signature lights, which are a LED ring around the headlights.

Umm, I'd have to look.

And are you sure your RAM is like that? On my '22 PW, when I activate the DRL's, the real headlights come on.
This is how mine looks without DRL's activated (stock photo):

With the DRL option ON in Uconnect, the headlights outside of those "quad-LED's" come on, too.

It used to a little bit, not by much, of course, and mostly only in smaller/lighter cars with smaller engines, not trucks.
But incandescent lighting had 2x55W headlights, 4x5W parking lights and 2x5W tag lights. Totaling to 140W.
But yes, didn't amount to much mpg decrease.
Perhaps back when we had the old 80A alternators they would draw up quite the load on the belt but those days are long past and even then fuel was so cheap then we did not care lol i miss those days!

100% certain.

DRL's activate the DRL's which are low beams with factory programming.

The signature lights cannot be selected on or off, they are always on with with ignition.

Ok, then we're talking about the same thing. That's what I meant, too.
I'll need to check on the Jeep, but I'm pretty sure it's different there.

This problem/feature is not specific to Ram… I have a wireless backup camera on the travel trailer which is powered by the trailer’s running lights circuit. The running lights are powered when plugged in to the truck and the truck’s headlights are on…

The (admittedly petty) annoyance with that is that I must turn on my headlights to power the camera. I’m looking for a solution to send power to the camera without rewiring the camera on the trailer.

Is it maybe possible to use JScan or Alfa to send power to the trailer running lights WITHOUT turning the truck headlights on? It would be great if all those LEDs would just power up whenever connected to the truck.

I’m thinking I could likely do this with a jumper in the wiring but I’m wondering if there’s a software solution? @Jimmy07 - I figure if anyone knew, maybe you would!

I'd you have the digital rearview, and the trailer camera option you can install the mopar trailer camera. It's pretty neat..

I wish! I do have the digital 3.0 mirror but the trailer camera is unavailable for the 23s. My travel trailer came with a Furrion wireless so I’m using that until I can somehow find a mopar one.
