I had just received in my '23 Laramie 3500, this has been my worst experience worth Ram ever. Customer help is garbage, before I get off topic. When I was checking out the cameras at the dealer I noticed in trailer reverse guidance mode, the cameras were not lined up. I requested the sales rep have their techs look at it and they came back and said it appears normal. This is my truck.

They said the tech checked one of the other trucks on the lot and it was the same, which is why he said it was normal. We stopped there today just for our own satisfaction to see as well. This picture is from another Ram that was for sale on the lot.

Is there anyone else that has the same issue where the crop for the rear guidance cameras are misaligned?

We find it hard to accept that Ram quality control is allowing this for a $80,000 plus truck. Maybe we're wrong, and if someone has any knowledge on why this is so misaligned please share.

Thank you

Its likely just the cameras in the mirror off a touch thats what happens with bolt on parts. Remember a tiny fraction of an inch on the camera will change the way it looks drastically.

Despite what you may think vehicles are NOT perfect precision items they don't build plastic parts with thousands of an inch precision.

Even if you got it aligned perfectly after some miles and vibration it would likely be out of alignment again anyway.

I checked mine, and they’re dead even. The cameras themselves are bolted to the mirror arm inside, and there is no play in the camera itself independent of the mirror.
Only thought I have is mine are the old style mirrors. The new mirrors have a taller mounting surface, and have an additional 2 bolts below the 3 bolts used on the older style mirrors. Seeing as your cameras are misaligned the opposite of the other truck you took a picture of, one guess would be one side the bolts are torqued down more than the other, pulling the mirror arm down a little more than the other side.

Mine on my ‘23 have a similar misalignment. You can actually see what I think is a bit of the mirror arm or mount in the passenger side, so I think it’s somehow the camera that’s misaligned. I’ll try to get a pic later if I can remember.

Interesting. Thank you!
My truck is still not left the dealer's lot, I feel like I will take it as a loss if I do take it even though I'm making payments. But they are pretty much giving up on attempting to try to realign it. This among my other issues are very discouraging.

My 22 is slightly misaligned, but nothing like that. With the digital movement left and right you would think they could be digitally aligned.

Here's a picture of my 2023. Sorry about the poor quality, but I just cropped this out of another picture I had.

Looks like mine is misaligned too. But it's close enough that it doesn't bother me. I'm going to assume this is normal.

What I find interesting is this is the one camera view they'll allow to show for more than ten seconds while driving. I wonder if this is a bug, or it's done on purpose.

So the trailer reverse guidance view is just a crop from the 360 side view mirrors. I haven't checked yet, my truck is still at the dealership. But, I was thinking maybe in 360 view it's aligned and for some reason thrown out when in reverse guidance mode?

You'd think it should be able to be adjusted with it being digital.

I'm pushing the issue at the dealership. I refuse to take it off the lot, in my mind I'm taking the loss if I do. My sales rep told me last they can't do anything unless there is a recall. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I don't see the struggle in a technician being inquisitive and finding an engineer who would remedy this. Any technicians here that could clarify the chain of command?

I responded to the sales rep and told him it's under warranty and had not left the lot and I want it fixed. I'll update this as it progresses in case this bothers anyone as it does me.

The only way to adjust it would be adjust the mirrors simply remove the door panel section, loosen the 5 nuts adjust and retighten. Dealerships are useless most of the time but you can try and tell them the procedure

I agree it should be able to be digitally adjusted but to do that would require that the software tools are built into the system or external tools to do that. If they don’t exist the. The only way would be tweaking the mirrors and / or cameras.

I tow a little, not a ton like some folks do but more than many. I have yet to use that camera view. I certainly wouldn’t delay delivery of my truck for it but that is your choice. Just be prepared for an answer that says we can’t change / adjust it. You need to decide if it is a deal breaker.

I’d be surprised if it is something that is actually checked at the factory because it’s not something they would adjust so why check. They probably build them, check that the cameras work and that is it.

Seems to me that it is delivering what you need. You see both cameras at once and can see in those field of views. The images not being aligned doesn’t change that functionality. I’m not sure I would have even expected that they would be, I’m hooking up a trailer today, I’ll look at mine :/)

Im not sure what purpose they serve vs using the actual mirrors they look like they have about the same field of view?

Ok, I just used them mine are a bit more lined up. They do provide a nice view actually, was surprised.

Going back and forth between the mirrors and that view is not really a thing. But I can see checking that when you’re in a tight spot. Would be nice if it was the view that popped up when you went in reverse and had a trailer connected. But assigning a shortcut button to would get you there.

For what it does alignment I don’t think is critical but if it was WAY off it could be an issue. In the picture below my 7x12 dump trailer is attached. But you can see mine is way more aligned than the OP.

Sadly it's more then just those cameras. Am I being picky, yes. But that is just one of the problems I'm having, the others are not mechanical, it's dealer and brand related. Rams have always been high quality trucks for me.

Without going to far off topic, I purchased a new 2500 Laramie last year, found out the payload would not suffice. With under 500 miles on it, I traded it in taking the hit for a 3500. When building it I asked the sales rep to make it the exact same as my 2500 with the addition of adding a long bed and the air suspension.

When the 3500 came into the dealership I immediately noticed the fender flares were not there. The sales people told me they were in the truck, that they would install them. Turns out Ram took them off the Laramie line and the dealership had no clue. Next was the digital rearview mirror, it wasn't there. I asked the sales people, they had no clue and told me to contact ram customer care. Well they're a joke, they're missing the "care" part.

Customer care told me to contact the dealer, I told customer care, the dealer had no idea why the digital mirror was not included to contact them. Customer Care said they would have a Stellantis rep contact me within a business day. Two days came and went without contact. I emailed that agent again requesting how to proceed, no response.

This past Wednesday, I called customer care and they looked at the file, again telling me I had to talk to the dealership, I explained they didn't know and i was told to contact them. Again I was told I would get a follow-up call within 2 days. I confirmed with the rep, "Two days, so by this Friday?", She says yes. Yesterday came and went and still no call.

I know I'm probably at the losing end of this, however I'm not going down without a fight. I'm a dumb consumer and maybe it was in the fine print somewhere that the digital rearview mirror was not included anymore. I'm not trained on what's included in what packages, but when I requested the same options and packages, that's what I expect. The sales experts should have informed me, the dumb consumer, one, it was not included, or two, it'll be available again sometime this spring.

Now that I got far off topic, I hope you can understand why I'm being so picky. I was failed by customer care, misinformed by the dealership, and a victim of Ram cheapening the brand. I took a loss upgrading from my 2500, not to mention the ridiculous inflation of vehicle prices this year, and Ram deciding to remove a safety feature I was expecting and used. Why even remove it as an option for a few months?!

I'm hoping you went over the order spec when they placed the order for your new truck. The flares I'm thinking is a Stellantis issue, where they started dropping things from orders, even though they were on the order and spec of the truck, for supply chain issues or whatever excuses they have been giving out. Seems like many with 2023's have had their orders changed / things dropped from packages for this reason. I seem to recall Ford handling it a little differently / better by notifying the people that ordered the truck and giving them options before it was delivered. That should have been what happened. The DRVM may be the same thing, but that would depend on what was on your order sheet I suppose. Either that or the dealer dropped the ball and maybe it could have been caught by reviewing it.

I would be pretty unhappy in my 2022 order if it came without stuff I clearly had on the order sheet. I'd be looking for some dealer concessions for sure if they couldn't remedy it. So I definitely respect your position that the dealer should be your advocate with Steallantis in making you happy or you walk away (which is tough to do after you've been waiting so long!).
