Trailer Hitch Recommendations

You may want to check out the Equalizer hitch which has a great reputation. It comes in 10K, 12K, and 14K ratings. I've had my 10K Equalizer since early 2013. Upgraded the shank to 2.5" with 9" drop when I got the RAM 2500. As I get older, my only issue is lifting it with that 2.5" shank. (Garage door won't close with it installed.)
Good luck with your new truck, trailer, and hitch.

I use the Weigh Safe WS8-2.5 drop hitch with the multiple balls. 8" drop and 2.5" shank. Very secure.

I bought a fastway 2 ball, 2" & 2 5/16", hitch with a 6" drop with a 20k rating for about $180. It's heavy but works for me, I don't pull 20k pounds but it will. I bought overkill because I don't know what the future holds. I even ordered the truck with 5th wheel/ goose neck prep package, don't use either....yet, but if I get wanting to use it truck is already prepped.20210908_221849.jpg

Any thoughts or opinions on the weigh safe hitches with the built in scale? Also, dumb question, do all of the HD's automatically come with a brake controller already or is that part of a towing package? I ordered a limited with Night Edition, Snow Chief and bed step as the only options. Thanks in advance!

I use a weigh safe and it’s pretty solid. If I towed for a living I would get a bullet proof. I have a 2021 2500 lone star and it came with the controller.

I definitely don't tow for a living and the 3-5 times a year I do it's usually an open car trailer with one of my cars on it for track day events. We are talking about getting some sort of a toy hauler and I figured when that happens I'll get a weight distribution style hitch as that seems to be the better way to go with heavier trailers.

Only the Tradesman is optional. all other trims come with the brake controller.

I really like this big hunk of iron its a curt adjustable cost me 378$ CAD rated at 20,000lbs, 2k tongue weight has both 2” and 2-5/16 balls (who has a 1-7/8 ball anymore anyway) at this point i have had 1725lbs tongue weight without issue, to me its worth every penny and its all forged so no welds that can break
