I have a Ram2500, 2020 and getting intermittent check trailer wiring and then break disconnect. Truck is currently at the dealer for the second time. I updated all my break connection on my camper with solder, crimped and heat wrap. Also put on a new updater cable and plug.still have the issue. My neighbors chevy and my brothers ford seem to work the breaks and they have 13+ volts at the truck connector, trailer break- to negative when squeezing the breaks, mine has 9.5volts. Any ideas?

Without knowing more, first I would check to make sure all your fuses are seated. Common issue that causes silly problems.

My truck has “light electric” and “heavy electric” as well as other settings. Have you tried other settings?

I did that before my last trip and all of the 30amp fuses did click in like they weren't seated, all of them. No fix

Check the brake wire going through the axle tubes they usually short out and can cause the trailer disconnected issue if you already changed the plug thats where i would look next

I did, camper is fine. Hooked up other trucks, it is the truck

Does the trailer plug look like the one on the right or left? If its the one on the left you need to change it to the one on the right as the other style does not work right on the rams

Also my camper is a 2021 and towed over 13k miles. First saw the issue last year, got home cleaned all connectors and greased with dialectic grease. Drove from cincy to Louisiana no problems. Had intermittent problems all the way home?

Hmm odd it sounds like you have a short though have you had the brakes apart i have seen magnets be the cause aswell. Some trucks wont give an error but the rams are more sensitive to issues i find. On my bumper pull flat deck trailer the magnet kind of melted and shorted and would give me the same intermittent error

It was all checked and looked good, as i said i hook my brothers up all works good and same as my neighbors. Also dont explain the 9.5 volts with nothing hooked up out of the brake connector compared to the other trucks being 13v+

I have my trailer serviced every April for bearings and brake inspections at at local confident trailer place and had them inspect it last month for this problem, no problems found. I did buy a tekonsha trailer brake and cable to fit my truck. If the dealer cant figure it out i will install it. Plug and play and 1 guy on a ram/camper page told me it fixed his problem. My warranty on the truck is done in October and getting tired of this issue, we travel alot.
