TPMS issue @ 1000 miles?

Follow up for me. I made it to dealer today and they replaced the left front tire sensor, along with adding a remote start and checking the alignment because the truck is pulling left. I jumped in the truck to leave and all was good, remote start worked, tire was reading pressure and I had driven to find out about the pulling but I was hopeful. Stopped a mile down the road and shut truck off and went in gas station. Came back out and started it and left front sensor was out again. Truck pulled on the way back to dealer so I was not happy. Dealer did not have another sensor and told me the alignment was right on spec. Why didn't they drive it? They could have felt the pull. At this point I had no faith and just left. I will sort out the pulling and take to a different dealer and try and get sensor working. FCA has a bad batch and I was told they were on backorder till at least Feb. I also tried to get the sales code for the tailgate turned on but they said I didn't have that code? I will sell the remotes I bought, they are 5 button and I paid 150 and will sell shipped for 125. Thanks

Add me to the list. I just got my new truck and am loving it overall but with ~800 miles the "Service TPMS System" flashed on my dash and it showed no right front tire reading. Took to dealer and they have to order the part which I find ridiculous. Now this morning ~250 miles later the left rear did the same thing. There must be a large defective batch of these things. I've never had one fail in any other car.

It was 4k miles for my 2020 3500 when the left front sensor failed.

Same issue, 300 miles on the clock and the right rear sensor shows - . Dealer said they were back ordered. 1500 miles later it started working. now at 3000 miles the right front blinks out. The dealer said they are still on back order. 3800 miles and I see a nail in the right rear so I had it fixed and asked if they had tire pressure sensors for my truck. They said yes so I had them replace all of them, but now none of the sensors are registering and they cant figure it out... WTF?

I had the same issue, right front stopped working and the driver side rear, 200 miles later they came back on. Dealer had them back ordered but now I am going leave as is and give it some time and see what happens. I only have 1700 miles on the truck.

Well an update on my issue, I am at 3000 miles and now have the left front sensor out. I had a pull to the left so I switched the front tires. The sensor issue stayed on the left so there are bigger issues. If the original sensor on the left was bad it would have went to the right after the switch, or at least that is the common sense approach. As it stands, the left is still not reading (which was the original right and worked fine) and the dealer said they would need extra time to figure it out? I didn't have the extra time available so it will have to wait.

With all these experiences it would seem that perhaps a bad batch of control units is actually more likely than a bad batch of sensors. I'm guessing the control units are bad and they're replacing sensors instead which is why they're out of stock and backordered.

It was 5 miles for me so I don't know what you guys are griping about!

Not to be difficult...

To get my local dealer to touch my truck for any reason it's 4+ hours out of my life start to finish and a ton of grief not having transportation for a day. And if I am lucky they will guilt trip me about how busy they are and what an inconvenience this is. I'm not doing that for a TPMS sensor when my local tire shop can have it done in 15 minutes with a smile on their face.

my left front sensor decided to show up for work today. First time in a month I have not had to clear out the error message.

That is some bad luck. My truck was delivered to my house. Next morning low pressure warning.....but I found a nail. My first drive was to Discount Tire where they fixed it for free.

Funnily enough one of my two missing sensors showed up the same day you posted this. I have a new theory that they're using college age sensors and some of them are leaving "to find themselves" and then when they get back from India or Nepal or whatever they're back to reading correctly! :p In all seriousness though this definitely seems like a control unit issue that they're trying to bandaid by replacing tons of sensors.

I had my tire shop test and at least in my case, it is bad sensors.

Also, sounds like I went to the wrong college.

I had tire shop try and fix mine and they are able to read them but not able to access the module.

I did not have them fix it, I was there for a different reason and they checked it in the parking lot while I was there. They usually charge me about $50 out the door for a new sensor but it's a million times more convenient than warranty work at my local dealership.

My tire shop has (I assume) AlphaOBD because they told me they could install the trailer TPMS sensors in my camper and program to the truck if they got the tablet from another location. The camper is getting a stabilizer jack replaced under warranty (I swear it wasn't me, I received it that way), so whenever that is done I will set the appointment and probably get the truck sensor replaced while I am in.
