Towing

One thing to be aware of is getting into the gas pumps since it is a Hemi. I was able to to get into some tight areas to get fuel. My wife was sure we could not get out. I could I just traded mine and replaced it with a 2024 3500 HO. While my truck towed ok with full air ride rear-end, even the wife mentioned how hard it was working. My weights were right on the edge, but I made the decision I was just uncomfortable with being on the edge. I am NOT advocating you should do the same.

Recently drug our 5th wheel (~9K this trip, relatively lightly packed on the truck and trailer) for the first time with the Hemi. It’s a route I’ve towed on more times than I can count. Multiple steep grades, up and down, as high as 7K feet.

The Hemi did great, no power issues for the speeds the roads let me drive. Speeds up to 70+ on the straight/flats. At 6K feet and 70 it did work a bit to keep up at 70 on slight grades, but that’s to be expected for a NA motor on a 75° day at 6K feet.

Fuel mileage was 8.4. The Cummins trucks would have been right around 9-10.

No complaints, especially compared to how the Cummins trucks work on the same route.
