Towing with new 6.4L

My daughter just bought this trailer, and I am going to be towing it from southern Oregon to southern Utah in a couple of weeks for her. It is 37 feet, if I remember correctly, and the empty weight is 8,400 pounds. I figure it will be about 9,000-9,500 with her stuff in it. Aerodynamic? Nah, more like aerocatastrophic! 13'6" tall, and absolutely flat front. I will take it pretty slow and easy on the trip. Hope to get 7-8mpg.
2021 3500 6.4 3.73.

A tiny home. Well, your 2500 Hemi is going to earn its keep, but you should still be within spec. Mine is 3K payload and 15K max tow weight. So you should be good to go if not happy to with 13 plus feet behind you. Think more like 7 mph would be my guess. Double check your undercarriage, and I'd even consider doing the bearings or if they are the eazy lube doing that prior as they are known to often be under greased. Have Fun... After you are done you can consider hot shotting as a career... OR NOT...

Actually, it's a 3500.

Oops, NO problem then and watch those bridges... I was looking at those Cherokee Timberwolf trailers. I appears she got the big one but for one person or even a couple, even a kid, not bad at all. Does it include the washer dryer? Hope she has her own property but if not a decent lease for land. Take care safe trip.

That must be about the least aerodynamic thing you can find to tow! And it's huge ... and it's tall. Good luck, the truck will handle it fine, main thing is watch for signs and extended roof overhangs.

Yeah, it has the washer/dryer. Her husband works remotely, so it will be just her and 2 cats most of the time. For now, it will be in an rv park.

Yeah, I have been driving trucks for a living for about 40 years now, so if I just pretend that I am at at work I should be good. Lol

She’ll do it.

BTW, what air pressure do you guys figure would be appropriate for the pickup when towing a trailer of that size? Tongue weight will be around 1,600-1,700 I figure. And yeah, I have a fancy torsion weight distribution hitch.

I would probably just run what the sticker on the door says for that load.

Unless you have a bunch of weight in the bed I can’t see you needing more than 60-65 psi rear, and probably 55-60 up front.

Agree. I have 1400lb of crap living in, bolted onto, or stored in my gas 2500 (4500f/3700r without trailer) and with 1000lb tongue weight on top of that 55psi is still plenty for axles with <5k axle weight assuming 80psi/4080 max load tires x2. Your setup is a little heavier so that’s why I said 65 ^

Whatever the door sticker says. Those pressures are intended for the max load the truck is capable of, granted you are running OEM sized tires.

I run 65 rear and 60 front for towing... I have KO2's. The original equipment Transforces (Firestone) the same. They are like rocks though hard but new they will get you where you are going. I replaced them at like 13K miles but they are OK tires on pavement. I'm thinking you might start there and then at a stop lower them to 60 rear and 55 up front to see what you think about the difference.

I have an Milwaukee M12 inflator https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...Portable-Inflator-Tool-Only-2475-20/304768834 Home Depot has a killer sale on now with two 5.0AH batteries charger AND a free tool with one of the choices being the inflator at 179 bucks. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...ickid=VKiQR6wORxyKRiPTV5QfAV8-UkCyznxgvU92SQ0

Then you can look at the electric grease gun later or one of about 200 tools. The 5.0 batteries are the big ones will last while inflating high pressure tires. I like the M12 stuff for RV use as it is smaller than the M18 tools. Just a thought. Or gas stations do have air.

I'm towing 8000 lbs. at 65 rear, 55-60 front. You are going a bit heavier plus I don't have the giant wind catcher you have, but I find it to be about right for handling feel and traction. Before reading more about tire pressures on this forum I'd tend to run 70-75 rear when towing and what I've found with the drop to 65 rear is less tire spin from a stop on anything loose and the ride "feels" about right. Maybe you could go to 70 if you really are over that 10,000 lb. point but I'd try 65.

One other thing. When I brought the trailer home from the dealership I had the truck in tow/haul mode. Even on flat ground it never got above 5th gear at 60mph. It seemed to me that it could have pulled 6th OK, but maybe not? I was thinking about trying it it in normal mode on the flats, as long as it doesn't start doing a bunch of shifting.
Opinions?
And yeah, I know that I am basically pulling a giant barn door.
