Towing 10,000 -12,000

17k lbs! Wow. I'd love for you to hook that load to the truck and give us your thoughts.

This is the payload and towing specs on my 2500 ordered back on March (that I might see someday). I ordered 4.10’s. It should pul my 8K trailer without any problems but I’m sure once I get the truck we’ll be looking at 5’rs.

That sheet is optimistic IMO, but that truck will drag around 8k lbs with ease.

Congrats on the new ride!

That sheet was given to me (and highlighted) by the dealer when I ordered the truck so I hope that it’s accurate! One of the first things that I’m going to do when it comes in is compare that sheet to the door jamb sticker!

FWIW, my 07 1500 is rated at 8800 towing. When we’re fully loaded for a camping trip, we should be 8500-9000, plus the truck itself. When I got the 07 new, I made sure to get the hemi and 3.92 gears (and anti spin rear diff). I have no trouble towing at whatever speed I desire for the most part, even at 230k miles, although it will turn some rpm up hills.

The older 5.7s like I have were 345/375 horsepower/torque with only 5 forward gears. The newer 6.4 hemi in the HD trucks are 410/429 hp/trq with 8 forward gears and 4.10 gears (unless 3.73). 65 more horsepower, 54 extra torqs, lower gear ratio, and more gears. So I figure the 3500 I ordered will do great even withour golf cart in the bed, if it ever shows up.

One observation: my older camper was 3k lbs lighter than our newer one but I’ve not noticed that much difference towing. At speed, it seems that the wind resistance of what your towing has about, if not more effect than weight.

Im sure it's 100% accurate. By "optimistic", I meant towing that much weight will NOT be enjoyable. Will the truck do it? Sure.

Hello. I’m looking for a fresh vehicle to tow the cattle trailer. My brothers little Terios is up for swapping soon before he totally destroys it and I’m thinking a second motor fit to pull the 12ft trailer wouldn’t be a bad thing. He’s not madly keen on pick ups as they make the whole rig so damn long. But he might just have to put up with it. Also prefers to drive automatic nowadays (snob) . Does anyone have any suggestions for a vehicle that can legally tow the cattle trailer (3.5t) yet not have a massive wheelbase. suggestions of a Defender 90 won’t be accepted, I want it to work everyday, not spend half its life being rebuilt and the other half trying to shake us to bits! we’ve served our time in Landrovers and don’t wish to go back there!
Australia for a guess? Anyway, the US has virtually none of the vehicles that overseas buyers have so it's rather hard for us to comment.

Lot's of us would give about anything for a LC70.
