Tow Mirrors are the worst

Hey Guys, I just got a new 2022 2500 Big Horn and due to the supply chain snafu mine doesn't have the Blind Spot Monitoring sensors.

I want to learn if someone else is experiencing the frustration with the passenger side mirror which is the worst ever. I can't see a car next to me if I want to change lanes to the right. I've almost hit a car the other day because I couldn't see the car since it was in my blind spot.

I drove yesterday a coworker's Ram 1500 Rebel GT without the towing mirrors and the difference is night and day how easy is to drive with those mirrors.

Your input or information how you solved annoyance is greatly appreciated.

I've set my mirrors in the Moose Ear position and have them adjusted so that I can see down the adjacent lane with the big mirrors and immediately beside the truck with the convex. Works for both Ghost Trailering and actual towing.

I agree

Shoulder checks are still a mandatory part of a driving exam for a reason…. The mirrors are great to me compared to my older rams i tow all the time so i keep them up mostly but even down they are good
Aaaaaaabsolutely.

Yup, pass side mirrors sucks when in no-tow mode and looking over shoulders doesn't always work for the lower height vehicles.
Would be great if someone makes a replacement mirror with less magnification.

Maybe it's just me, but with the mirrors down and horizontally stacked, I can't see anything. Something about the spot mirror being beside my main mirror, it just screws with my brain or something. When I flipped them up the first time, took about 3 seconds to decide that was much better with the spot mirror below the main mirror for me. They've been flipped up once and not going back down regardless if I'm towing or not.

I'd suggest adjusting your current mirror so you can see your blind spot. Most people have their mirrors adjusted so they can see their car and what's right behind them, that's for a rear view mirror.

Adjust the mirrors out more, any mirror will work, I promise you that. Add wide angle to your mirrors if you want a plan B

The mirrors are butt-backwards and are indeed awful...the blind spot mirror should be on the inside instead of outboard and is ridiculously oversized. All who have driven my truck complain about them especially the passenger side, no amount of adjusting can make that one perform like a decent and proper sideview mirror in our opinions.
Mine is a 19 PW...if the newer are different but still lousy that would be incredible, can't imagine how.

I agree that the passenger mirror sucks. I’ve driven many different vehicles and none of them use a 1:1 ratio magnification for the passenger side. It’s fine for the drivers side because you’re much closer to it, so you have the appropriate perspective.

Exactly. I share your same sentiment. I've been looking for a replacement mirror with less magnification without luck.

Agreed. My "Ears Up Always" solution is the only thing that worked (works) for me.

Maybe it's the way you have them adjusted.
I have the bigger mirror adjusted so I can see the lane next to me for the most part, can't see my truck at all. Use the small blind mirror to see the side of the truck and rear tire for when backing up. No problem.

I do flip them up to moose ears when I'm towing for better coverage due to the trailer and not having a good view behind me.

But I also drove a K5 Blazer for a long time that only had 1 passenger mirror and a BIG blind spot. So I learned to keep an eye on traffic behind me as well as turn my head. Sometimes I had to lean forward a bit or back a bit to get a good view of anything beside me in the mirror.

Guess I'm just old school and learned to drive with just a rear view mirror and only side mirror was on the drivers door. There wasn't always a mirror on the passenger door on all vehicles, or any computer nannies telling you someone was there. You had to learn how to drive and turn your head and look, rather than looking at a camera screen.;)

For many years i had jeeps for the summers instead of using my trucks year round, so not having side mirrors is nothing new for me lol

I opted for the non-moose mirrors on my truck. I put little convex mirrors in the corners of all my trucks.

I never ever look over my shoulder not even when backing. Mirrors don’t lie. Adjust them correctly and drive the truck.
