touch control glitches

My 12 inch screen treats a touch like a long press, sometimes it does not register the press, or it has a 5 second pause before it registers the touch. Is this just the way they are or not? I don't want to waste time at the dealer like I did with the semi squeak and chirp like it's a junk yard truck.

If you haven’t already, I’d do a soft reset by holding in the 2 knobs at the same time until it resets. Try that and if that doesn’t work, I’d do a hard reset in the settings. Usually if there is any odd stuff these fix it for me. If those don’t work you’ll have to take it to the dealer because the screen head unit may be bad.

Thank you. I'll try that.

Sometimes right on startup while its loading everything and connecting CarPlay I notice that when I try and toggle on my vented seat it doesn't register or takes forever to register but then once going its fine. If its doing that all the time I think I would take it in (if its consistent and you can reproduce it that usually makes it easier to show there is something wrong).

I don't use the touchscreen for about the first minute of driving, as dumb as that sounds, while it sorts itself out. Our computers, I mean trucks, take a minute to "boot up". The only weirdness I've had is trying to select a radio preset. It seems no matter how quick I hit the button, it somehow ends up saving that current station to the preset button I just tapped. Very annoying.

I listen to podcasts and if you long press the skip button, it goes to the next episode. One of my annoyances is that sometimes no matter how light I touch it, it stayed highlighted and goes to the next episode. The climate controls are a pain in the ass as well. I have been using voice commands for that and it works pretty good so far. I'm gonna play with commands for audio. I would rather have a small screen and manual controls.

I totally get it. I'm trying to get used to using the hard buttons on either side of the screen, temp, fan, mode, etc. But my wife gets in the truck and immediately starts hitting the screen buttons before it's had a chance to "boot up" That causes all sorts of touchscreen chaos. Although, not as much chaos as her taking a micro-fiber to clean the screen while I'm driving. That's like hitting all the screen buttons at once.o_Oo_O

I think my solution will be to keep the upper half navigation and the lower half SiriusXM. That will force me/her to use the hard buttons for climate control.

My 24 2500 does the same. Don’t think it’s anything that can be fixed permanently until they patch/update it. Like you said it treats a touch like a long press. Seems like software to me. The counter is off simply. Unit has several undocumented features like that. Not worth letting it sit at a mindless dealership. Hopefully, @RamCares will care one day.

I haven't noticed this.

I have that issue sometimes on my 2024. It happens when hitting a radio station or SXM preset. Like, if I'm listening to the 90s channel and hit the preset for the 60s channel, it will save the 90s channel to the preset for 60s channel. If that makes sense. Super annoying, but it doesn't happen all the time.
