Too much oil and poor dealer help

Back in the day I had a 97 12 valve. At certain intervals the tappets required adjustment. Each cylinder had its own tappet cover with an "O ring" seal. The dealer here in canada wanted almost 30 dollars per seal. Since we did a lot of weekend camping in Michigan back then, I stopped at a Detroit Cummins shop on the way home. Price was 3.50 per seal. We Canadians really have to bend over for parts. I understand that there is an exchange rate but parts prices are rediculous here. Short story is get. your parts from Cummins if possible.
Unfortunately sourcing parts directly from Cummins has pretty much become impossible, at least where I am. The Cummins Sales & Service locations will not sell parts for a Chrysler 6.7. CPL number, and a lot of the parts are flagged in their system as “not able to sell”. FCA must have signed some sort of recent exclusivity agreement. We used to get a lot of the parts directly from Cummins but that’s no longer the case. There are actually some parts on these engines that are proprietary to the FCA 6.7 Cummins only

Sounds like price fixing to me.

This isn't uncommon. I have dirt bikes from a company called Beta. Almost all the aftermarket guys have locked in contracts or something with Beta so you must buy through dealers.

UPDATE.

dealership called me this moring my truck was up on the rack. I was able to get in and inspect the bearings and oil pan myself. There were no wear by finger nail on the ones I saw, but by visual you can see wear marks in my opinion. Coming from a machinist family background its the first sign of failure. There was specs in the oil pan but pretty small, but for how many oil changes I've had in the last 1000miles you should be able to drink it. Dealership will send photos to me and Ram we will know eventually. Seeing how they replaced rocker arms and push rods due to fuel this has to be next I hope.

Yep, I agree. I’m no machinist but that sure looks like excessive wear to me. They’re going to reimburse you for that if they agree there is damage?

What is that a picture of a gouge on, the crankshaft? I can’t tell what it is in the picture.

I did show a buddy of mine that was a Master tech. He said it looked pretty normal for the most part but some parts dont look quite right.

few mechanic friends say they look normal. We will wait to see what photos the dealership comes up with.

My self would hate if my oil pan had that much sparkles in the bottom of the pan, too me one of the rod cap photos likes like it has good scratches in the bearing, did they at least pull one crank cap, preferable the thrust bearing cap?

They should have and should be sending me photos.

I guess I’ll be the oddball and say that for the issues you have had I expected much worse. I was expecting to see copper on them.
