Titan Fuel Tank.... For a HEMI!

I'm not convinced an additional cross member exists on long box frames. I used a VIN for a long box and MOPAR was listing the same frames as CCSB.

Here are the stock frame assemblies I could find for 2022.

2021 Ram 2500

Have been trying to confirm if there is an additional welded-on cross member on CCLB by looking for photos and such. A photo of both frames would be key to determine the differences.

Attached is an example of what a bracket might look like if it's not an entire cross member. This is on a 1500 RAM.. still researching.

Part #7 in diagram might be the crossmember that is added for 8ft boxes. Still looking for actual photo of long box frame.

So titan tanks made a special holder for their mega cab tank they just run , it utilizes those holes your mentioning . Just a thought 340048F4-6DCB-403A-8454-F6EEDA80BAAE.png

A crew cab long bed Hemi with a 50 gallon tank has a different frame assembly part number than a crew cab long bed Hemi with a 32 gallon tank. The bracket is part of the frame assembly and is not serviceable, and doesn’t exist separately.
Those diagrams are nice. They each list 44 part numbers for each frame assembly part call out. While the frame assembly part number is different, it's not identified in a diagram what the difference is.

It'd be nice to see a photo of the part we're missing.

I'm not in automotive manufacturing business but I would be surprised that the crossmember part is not available seperately as that would mean scraping a whole frame for a damaged crossmember. I'm still getting familiarized how these are engineered and assembled but it would make practical sense for the cad folks to have their own internal part number for the cross member that is added, and its specs such as weight, steel type, thread type etc...

If this is helpful, here's a VIN for 2022 RAM 2500 BIG HORN CREW CAB 4X4 8ft BOX 50 GALLON Tank.

3C6UR5JJ4NG157245

If we can get the frame diagram or photo for this one it would be ideal to compare with the 6ft box frame.

The difference in the frame assembly part numbers is the location of the crossmember that the front tank straps bolt to.
When you look at the diagram, part number 1 frame assembly is it’s own part, and all the other part numbers are additional separate parts that bolt onto the frame assembly. IOW, if you were to purchase part number 1 frame assembly, it won’t come with any of the other part numbers listed on the diagram.
There is simply not a separate part number for the front fuel tank strap crossmember because it is welded to the frame assembly.

That VIN has the same frame part numbers as the 2020 CCLB 50 gal frame parts list I have linked in the google drive document above.

I ran into the same problem trying to add an OEM skid plate...the skid plates rear frame mounts are not available...they are welded to the frame & that frame has a completely different P/N.
This was verified by the dealership parts guy contacting a tech rep. I ended up making my own mounts and bolting them in place.

Found photos of a 2022 RAM 3500 BIG HORN CREW CAB 4X4 Frame Assembly 50 gallon tank with the additional cross member.

The cross member looks bottom mounted which would appear to contradict our expectations that the strap is top mounted similar to the first rear strap.

VIN: 3C63RRHLXNG177591

There also appears to be additional metal support with a cavity of sorts. This is visible in s-l1600-4.jpg.

Thoughts?

That’s the DEF tank mount. The tank straps hook into slots on the inboard side of the frame, and bolt to the bottom of the two welded on cross members. That’s the same members that the tank straps to on crew cab short beds and mega cabs. Being that they are closer together on those two cabs, and there’s no way to buy either of those cross members separately, the front strap mount needs to be “created” on a crew cab short bed and mega cab.

Right. The two straps are ~42" apart. The DEF tank mount is much further. Thanks for the detailed clarifications.

Seems at this point a similar mount to that of the Titan tanks suggested by ThatAlbertaGuy might be able to do the job. This approach might also need another type of strapping to secure the tank to the frame if the undermount bracket alone is not sufficiently secure.

Awfully quiet here this past month hopefully that means everyone is busy in the shop making these tanks fit lol.
Zenfully waiting for parts.

As of recent I'm working with a local fabricator to make a custom bracket to hold the tank in lieu of the front fuel tank strap. This will be similar to the Titan bracket but will provide exact fitment for the design of the RAM tanks. Once this is finalized it will be made available for purchase so that everyone can enjoy. Right now working on dimensions in solidworks to provide fabricator a design for the prototype.

Anyone that wants to pre-order a bracket feel free to message me. All pre-orders will be bundled together in order to get an initial bulk price discount from the fabricator. Afterwards it will likely cost a little bit more to fabricate on a smaller batch basis and it will be available for a cost that reflects a non-bulk order method.

Likely the bracket will need to be painted black and rust protected prior to installation. This might be a bit of a pita but it will be needed to keep fabrication costs down.

Still waiting on parts over here. I reached out for an update but I haven't heard anything yet. Reach out once you get pricing for that part; I'm not sure what they are planning to do to get it attached.

Edit: Small Update - they had already marked this as high priority and they are now escalating the order. I mentioned this thread and they are going to review and start looking at planning.

Appreciate the update.

The 3D model of the bolt-on section of the frame is done. Been getting familiarized with working with sheet metal in SolidWorks. Should have a 3D render to share in the not too distant future. It should be possible to make these brackets for around $120USD. It will be made of at least 14 gauge sheet metal or greater which will be factored into the material cost.

Update: I have added some renders of the work in progress.

50 gallon factory tank is only available on the eight foot bed.

Yes; we know that' show it's offered on their configurator. What lead us down this path is Mopar has a ~50G tank that is listed as compatiable with the Power Wagon. The power wagon only comes in a 6'4" bed. So a few of us are seeing what can actually be done.

Quick progress update on brackets. There is an inner and an outer part. The outer part currently has a cutout to save on 3D print filament as fitment is being refined. The support that will be added to the outer part will be curved to fit perfectly around the tank much like a strap normally would. That's it for now. Do not hesitate to share any ideas on how to improve this design, after all it might be on your truck one day :)

So if I’m picturing this right in my head the support bolts into the frame and supports the tank from the underneath then a fuel tank strap will go over the tank rather then the traditional under to support any lateral movement ?

Are we all sure on the tank if we use the rear tank mount strap location that the front holes in the frame where this bracket would go will line up with the tank brackets ? Or I guess will it matter since the strap is going over top .
