Putting Michelin LTX/MS2’s 295/70-18’s on my 2500 Friday. Hope that they don’t rub. My truck very seldom leaves the pavement and when it does it’s on gravel. I really can’t complain about the service I have gotten out of the Firestones. 30k miles and still have 7/32’’ tread left. I’ll be taking them home with me.
Got the 295’s on my truck this morning. They do seem to ride better but I haven’t ran them very far yet. Does anyone know what height needs to be put in the tire diameter for this size tire on JScan ? I got a butt load of codes before reinitializing ABS. That got rid of all but 1 and it’s showing as a permanent code but no CEL or MIL illuminated and got a message that it would clear after a few drive cycles.
Ok thanks. I set it for 34” and the speedometer is still 1-2 mph off at 60. The setting that it showed before I changed it was 33.87 and after putting in 34 it changed to 33.97. So I guess I’ll try 34 1/4” and see if that works. I was looking at tiresize when you replied. Lol Thanks again.
I put 34 1/4” in it and now it’s within 1 mph. According to the gps it’s running 1 mph faster than the speedometer at 60 mph. It’s adjustable on JScan in 1/4” increments.
That’s what it was on when I started changing it and it was off 3 mph at 70 mph with the new tires . It shouldn’t have been set that high with the stock tires but it was. It read right on the money before the tire change.
Yeah I think 34.5 will probably do it.
I think I found the solution for this. The app originally showed that the tire diameter was set on 33.87”. The tires I installed were 1.1” taller than the original tires so I set the desired diameter to 34.75” since it is only adjustable in 1/4” increments and now it is on the money according to my GPS. I don’t know if this is how it works or just coincidence.
Did you have the option to use revolutions per mile ( rpm ) for the new tire, I've noticed many manufactures give/show the rpm for each tire size, for me that is one way to know for sure the replacement tire I look at has the same or close to the same rpm as the the tire on my truck, if its not close I know I will need to change settings so speedometer is not wacky an clocking more miles then what GPS would show...
As far as I know, diameter is the only option
