I am at 28K miles on the original tires, and they are pretty much done. What I am looking at, is maybe stepping up from the stock 125 weight rating, to a 127 rating. I am not going to load over the axle rating, but it would be nice to have a higher rating if I get near it. I am currently towing my 5th wheel at 15K lbs (it has an 18K GVWR), that sits level with the stock setup, and just about 7" between the bed and 5th.
My question is, I have the stock 285/60R20 with the 125 rating, and it seems in that size that is it. I was looking at either the 295/60R20, or 285/65R20 in the Cooper AT3. It steps it up to a 127 rating, which adds a little over 400 lbs more. Question is, if they say it is 1" more diameter, is the truck an 1" taller, or actually 1/2" taller? I want to keep the truck as close to stock height as possible for towing reasons, and I need the space between the truck and 5th with the way my driveway is to the road.
No changing rims, or anything else. If I get to 16K lbs or more on the trailer, a dually will be in my driveway.
