Tire Pressure

So, if I understand it correctly, by dropping the tire pressure in my PW I will need to spend about $200 to purchase the obd to override my low tire pressure warning light? Am I missing something?
one of the best and cheapest mods your PW will ever see :). truly a mod you will enjoy every single time you drive your truck.

I'm on 37s. I run 40/40 cold on a fully loaded down PW. Gets me to 45/45 when hot. I air down to 20/20 on the trails by default. Will go lower depending on the terrain.

Bed and Ramboxes are full.

I used a TazerRam to change the tire size (speedometer) and TPMS low point. There are other things it can do, but it isn't as full-featured as AlphaOBD.
For me, I am happy with the Tazer and its features.

I briefly looked it up but didn't see much of what it can do. Can you give me some of the other things that it will do?

Look at the ALPHAOBD thread on here. Lots of info.

I've used it to change 5 things so far on mine. Thinking now of going back in and raising my speed limiter. I've hit it several times on the freeways over in Arizona trying to pass someone. 98 MPH is not a good limit.

for me (I have the AEV procal snap which does less than the alphaobd) just having a spot on speedometer and tripometer which improves your shift points and not having the low psi warning light come on was well worth the cost of entry.

^^^^ What he said! Changing the speedo and the TPMS was what I was really going for. The other features of the Tazer are great, but I consider them an added bonus. I don't even use most of the listed features. One thing I did find on the latest(?) update to the TazerRam is the ability to actually kill the headlights. It is a bit cumbersome, but it works. I wanted it for when I am hunting.

Just a note: If you are going to Google or search for AlfaOBD just be aware it is not spelled "Alpha"

I’ve always just run 60 front 65 rear. The ride doesn’t bother me and the tires are wearing well. It’s easy so I don’t have to worry about airing up or down.

Hmmm I may need to eat my last post. I was curious what all the fuss about tire pressure was about so I lowered to 45 front and 40 rear. So far, just one drive I am actually pleasantly surprised. It rides much better as far as harshness and the drift to the right for road crown is much diminished!

Apparently sometimes everyone doing something is a good reason for you to do it too…. I’ll keep it like this and see if I continue to like it

What would happen if the TPMS sensors were replaced with standard stems and the sensors put into a section of PVC pipe pressurized to an appropriate level? Seems it would work without a need to program/ buy a programmer, would be easy to replace a failed sensor at home and cheap...especially if done at a tire change.
Schedule 80 is good to high PSI...some 400 psi, I think.

Might work if the PVC where attached to each wheel :) but otherwise not going to work.

..some sort of "reciever" at each wheel? Not sure how the system works.
Trying to think of a work around, the Snaps are out of stock and the how to vids of the other programmers make my head hurt.
Just read up on them, pffft. Stupid Firestones.

Slow down Speed Racer. Don't make me call Racer X.
