Tire help for towing

Looking to replace my 2022 2500 6.4 crew cab standard bed tires. We tow a trailer around 8,000 lbs and run with airbags. The OEM tires seem slick and we are in the PNW need a tire to tow and hold up under rain and snow. Thoughts, recommendations? We have the Firestone Transforce LT275/70R18E, thanks.

Does the truck see trails or just mostly paved roads? A good H/T would suit if the truck never leaves the highway
 
Just about anything is better than the OEM trashforce tires.

I have the Cooper HT3’s on my 5th wheel and think they would make good on-road tire, but if snow is a major concern I’d lean towards a AT tire.

The Goodyear Duratrac RT LT is great for snow, rain, ice, and does excellent with towing too. I’ve also had great luck with Cooper AT3’s.

I replaced the Transforce with Michelin Defenders. We tow a 9,500 lb fifth wheel. Very happy with the tires so far.
 
Currently our 2016 Ram 2500 4x4 Power Wagon Crew Cab has 53K miles on 35 12.50R17 Toyo C/T's. Rotate 5. Tread depth is between 7/32 and 8/32" currently, but was a deep 19.3/32" new. Towed a 9,995 GVWR trailer majority of their use with lots of gravel roads.

Purchased a 2024 Ram 3500 4x4 Crew Cab long bed HO Cummins just last Fall and immediately towed from Western Colorado to Minnesota. Traded in the Firestone tires for the Toyo C/T's in the 275 70R18 size upon arrival.

Need a minimum tread depth of 6/32" based on Colorado traction laws and in Oregon it's 3PMSF requirements. 3PMSF rated tires such as the Toyo A/T III is what our family's 2014 Ram 2500 4x4 Crew Cab Cummins runs.

After having the last 3 sets of coopers at3 LTX warrantied I would not recommend them at all. Cooper used to be a good brand not anymore

That’s a bummer. I did get some warranty on my last set, but that’s normal for how I use my tires so I didn’t put that on Cooper. They were night and day better than any Toyo products I’ve used.


The wife’s Gladiator came with Falken Wildpeak AT3’s and so far were very happy with them. Best OE tire of any vehicle I’ve ever owned.

Yea I have never had any good experience with toyo truck tires.
 
I've used to run Ko2 tires but switched to Toyo AT3. I've gotten really good wear on them and they perform well. Road noise is good and performance in wet weather is good. I am currently on my second set on my 3500.
 
The first thing I do when I purchase a new truck is buy a set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S Tres. These perform well on semi-offroad, and you couldn't ask for a better all-around / highway tire. We tow around 15K, and they hold-up well on are 3500 Mega Cab.

This. Replaced the OEM Firestone's with these and it was night and day better in every way.
 
I plan to use up the Transforce tires before I replace em, I just can't justify $1000 for a new set of tires to replace a new set of tires. When I bought the truck in July, I worked in a new set of Transforce A/T's (what the dealer had in stock in a A/T tread) instead of the regular road treads than came on the truck from the factory. I understand the Firestones aren't worth a damn but I'm gonna keep em for as long as they last, which from what I hear ain't gonna be too long. I had excellent service from two sets of Cooper Discoverer A/T's I had on my 06, purchased through Walmart for a song.

My ‘18 had the HT’s and my ‘22 had the AT. The HT’s were actually a better tire in nearly every condition, the AT’s are just junk.
 
When we purchased our 2024 3500 4x4 last October in Western Colorado we immediately towed a 9,995 GVWR travel trailer with it towards Minnesota the very same day. Traded in the very low mileage used four 275 70R18 Transforce tires for $600 in Rochester, MN. It still cost an additional $1,000 for Toyo C/T's with the 3PMSF winter rating. Living within the Rockies with towing on snow/ice was my concern with getting winter rated tires ASAP for the trip back home, but the roads remained dry the entire trip.
 
31k on my Transforce tires. They will be done by 35k. My truck is a pavement princess so they have worked as needed for the most part. That said they are not confidence inspiring by any means. They spin in mud that doesn’t exist! I look forward to new sneakers. Very much undecided as of now but leaning towards giving the Milestar Patagonia a whirl.
