Yes. Many don't have more than a few 2500s on the lot. They want full MSRP?!

Now that's what I'm talking about right there. That's the way it's done, way to go PW. Job well done. I did the same thing, traveled 1000 miles out of my way to save 17.9% and get full mkt value on trade. I'd do it the same way all over again. Power savers/ negotiators baby. Kicken azz n takin names and leaving pd interest in our wakes.Well that’s supply and demand in a free market economy. However, the Internet has made the world a smaller place.
I would expand my search area before I payed MSRP. One-way plane tickets are very cheap right now. When I purchased my Ram 2500 last year I determined exactly what I wanted and then I found six identical trucks with consecutive Vin numbers. Two of them were in Minnesota, one in Iowa, and 3 in Nebraska. The Nebraska dealer was willing to pick me up at the airport for free or ship the truck right to my door in Minnesota for $500. Ultimately I bought the truck from a Minnesota dealer that was 60 miles away. I made it obvious to the sales manager I had already done my price homework. My initial offer and his counter were within $100. Very short negotiations.
I paid just over 18% off MSRP.
That's not always the case if you factor sales tax. You only pay tax on the trade difference.

That isn’t always true, in the people’s republic of California we pay tax on the MSRP regardless f trade or discounts... apparently there is no end to their deviousness...
That was exactly how I did it also. Was in no hurry and I made that clear to every dealership. I actually quit looking after 6 wks and test driving a few because they didn't have everything I wanted for a low enough price. Then one day out of the blue after a few wk hiatus I get a call from a dealer in Arkansas wanting to work out a deal. I was always very insistent that I can wait a couple years if I need to and that I'm not jumping into anything until its the perfect vehicle with all my accessories all for under 69,999. It definitly paid off. My go to search engine that I had the most luck with was car gurus, I love that plat form.Actually, this is what I have been doing. Mostly looking at Nevada and AZ by putting in their zip codes in the Ram finder website but still not having great luck. I am not in a hurry but if I find the right truck for the price I want I will make the trip.

I thought it was allot easier than some of the other sites to be able to refine your search and find info on the vehicle. Yes they have a boat load. First thing I did was narrow the search down to 19 and up ram 3500 color crew or mega 6.7 4x4. You can even select trim wich I selected Laramie and limited, then I did a nationwide search circumference. Once I found one and clicked on it, first thing in details I'd look for was either the word rfe or aisin, if it said rfe then I backed out. It was kind of a treasure hunt but I enjoyed it. Do you want me to find you a truck, ill only charge yah a 1% of msrp finders fee, just for you for today only.I will look at Cargurus. I didn't think about using them for a new truck. I think my wife might have been using them. I was only using them to find a selling price for selling my 3rd Gen.

Yep, CA hoses you on the full value regardless of a trade-in. But it is the price it was sold for and not MSRP you are taxed on.
Iowa, it’s the difference after trade......the price you actually pay for the truck. Are you sure about that, I’ve fought with several salespersons on this over the years and always lost, they take The sticker price as line 1 on the contract which is what they base the tax on, then they subtract your discount that you negotiate but they still tax you on sticker.
Same for SD. That's why I waited for a great deal on both build and trade. Most places wood give a great price on one end then gouge you on the other end. Not this old boy. Do your research and keep pushing, thousands are at stake.Iowa, it’s the difference after trade......the price you actually pay for the truck.

Congrats! I got similar pricing a month ago on a very similar truck. In my case, buying through the company, I wanted to buy before the end of the year. The way things were looking, I felt the 2020’s would run out before the end of the year and the 2021’s would have less wiggle room. Having kept an eye on the local inventories since I bought, I made the right decision. The dealers in South Florida are almost asking full price and the lots are almost sold out of ‘20 2500s. Great job and beautiful truck!Got the deal wrapped up today! Thanks all for your guidance.
Same here, this is a company purchase for me before year’s end. Inventory is certainly scarce. I really wanted 15% off MSRP and with the truck deal plus the extra $ they put on my trade when they couldn’t do anything else on the new one, I was right there so I feel good about the deal and am loving the truck so far! Enjoy yours!Congrats! I got similar pricing a month ago on a very similar truck. In my case, buying through the company, I wanted to buy before the end of the year. I’m loving it too. We sold our boat but I was able to tow it with the new truck before the new owner picked it up, and I couldn’t believe the difference towing with the truck and how easy it made the whole process. Here’s a pic of the whole setup. The truck is overkill for that boat but wow, the highway was a lot less stressful than with our ecodiesel jeep grand Cherokee.Same here, this is a company purchase for me before year’s end.
