I took delivery early this week on my new 2026 Ram Rebel 2500 Diesel. On my first drive, I noticed the brake pedal was located way to close to the driver. I have pedal adjustment, so I tried to move it forward. Turns out it was fully forward. When I moved it to the fully back position it was abnormally high to the point you were hitting the hood open cable with your foot when applying the brake.

Using a straight edge I measured the distance from the brake pedal to the gas pedal. Or how much further back the brake pedal is compared to the gas pedal. It measured 2-1/2". My other vehicles measure quite a bit less than this.

I attached a pic of it in furthest rear position.

Has anybody else notice that the pedal is too far back?

Other than this, the truck is amazing.

Seems like this could be a big issue when moving foot from accelerator pedal to brake? Do you find you catch your foot on the side of the brake when doing that during normal driving?

I am not sure I follow what your main issue is--are you saying the brake pedal is too "close" to you OR too "far" from you?
(my 2025 has the power pedal adjustment option--I have not noticed any issues with the brake pedal location)

He said it is too close to him. Look at the pic posted and how much closer it is to the driver than the gas pedal

That pedal is definitly too high . It is supposed to be a relatively fast transition from gas pedal to brake . Take it into the dealer , while there go try a truck on the lot .

Yes, this has happened. You have to raise your foot an unusually extra distance.

I planned on doing both.

I seem to remember this being an issue on my 2022 as well. Thankfully the truck isn’t here anymore so I can’t go outside and measure but maybe someone else here will post theirs as a comparison

I measured the distance BETWEEN the brake and accelerator pedal--exactly 3". With the pedals in fully back position--I measured from the floorboard (flat part) to the TOP of the brake pedal--8.75". As you move the power pedals closer to you the brake pedal (and accelerator pedal) does raise higher off the floorboard. see attached picture I just took.
I compared these measurements to my wife's Acura SUV (it does not have power pedals)--they are almost exactly the same. Maybe this will help...

Looking at HighHP picture again--it looks like the pedals are fully extended to the REAR of the truck (as compared to the picture I posted on this thread)---IF pedals are too close to the driver, check again to ensure the pedals are powered all the way to the FRONT of the truck (i.e furthest from the driver).

Yeah, my original post picture is with the pedals in the full rear position to show how close the brake pedal is to the hood release cable. That is why your foot hits the cable, it is positioned too close to the cable. In the full forward position, the brake pedal still sets too far back. I am 5'-10" and have average length legs and the brake pedal is much too close to me, in the full forward position.

Move the seat back?

Honestly, i cannot believe that any vehicle made after 2010 doesn't have a telescoping steering wheel........ but here we are. I spent probably 20 minutes looking around and reading the manual when i first got my 2024, only to find out it doesn't have one. Allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllrighty then.

Here is a photo of mine, they have been set all the way back from drivers seat, the pedal are about the same distance as I had in my 2006, the only time I had any problems was when I drove the first time with a new pair of boots after first drive no more problems, too me its the normal distance between brake and accelerator pedal...

Thanks for the pic. If you don't mind, can you lay a straight edge across the brake pedal pad and measure the distance from the straight edge to the gas pedal?
Is this the 2022 Big Horn 2500?

Yes the photo is from my 2022 2500 Big Horn CC 4x4, just took the tape measurement with framing square its 2 9/16 inch from center of brake pad to the gas pedal, its closer then I thought is was based on just looking at it...

Well, maybe I just need to deal/get use to it. I considered cutting a notch and welding the brake pedal arm to reposition it, but when I press really hard on the pedal it goes way down. Further than I anticipated. Don't want to reposition and have the floor limit operation. I will be checking more specifics after the holidays.

Yeah, the real problem is that the steering wheel won't move forward and rearward. My TRX has the brake pedal in the same location relative to the gas pedal, but the steering wheel moves forward and rearward for a perfect fit. On the my Ram 2500, when I move to a comfortable location for the steering wheel, the pedals are too close. I am 5"10" average build, one would think that with the pedals in the full forward position, they would not be too close to me. This is the only vehicle I have ever had this problem with.
