Hello all,

Ok, apparently my post has caused some confusion. So, I want to change transfer case fluid in my 2021 Ram 3500. The problem is, the DEF tank bracket sits too close to the fill and drain plugs, to get a ratchet in there.

There's a round plate on the bottom (See attached photos), and I am wondering if anyone else has changed fluid and if this is how they accessed the plugs.

Not sure what you want to know looking at it its pretty clear but socket with extension to open the fill from behind the crossmember and right from the t case to get the drain

If you look at the photos I attached, there is a craddle / crossmember directly behind the drain and fill plugs, unlike my 2011 2500 which was wide open. There is a round plate on the bottom with 2 bolts on this craddle. I plan to remove it tomorrow and see if I can access the plugs. As mentioned, I am well aware that this should be a simple job, and I have changed TC fluid before in my other trucks but never had a truck with this craddle in the way. I just merely wanted to see if someone on the forum had encountered this before and what they did to access the plugs.

See the photos I attached. In my older Rams, there was plenty of room behind the TC to access the fill and drain plugs but apparently FCA has added a craddle that sits very close to the TC and makes getting to the plugs with a ratchet, impossible. There is a round plate with 2 screws on the craddle, and I am planning to remove it tomorrow and see if I can become a contorsionist and get to the plugs.

Can I tell if you're a long bed or mega cab in those photos? That what I was referring to....is your truck a short bed? Iirc my mega cab was no problem...

The round plate is under the DEF tank it wont help you. Just use an extension and go from behind the plate… im not sure what you are not understanding about it.
 
I was under my truck today on unrelated business and noticed how wide open mine were compared to yours.

Yours is a sb? My CCLB is similar but the 68RFE is a touch shorter but same idea
