Taking Delivery (or trying to) - Running Board Dilemma

Hey everyone, I'm a 2019 1500 CC Owner with a 32' Travel Trailer who finally realized I just needed to suck it up and go to a 2500 (2021 Hemi Megacab). I'm supposed to be taking delivery on Friday from a dealer 3 hours away but with my wife and younger kids coming along we're running into an issue as the vehicle doesnt have running boards and they cannot get them in time (they had planned on it but something happened). In the meantime I cannot find anyone in my vicinity with anything that will work and I'm outside anyones timeframes for delivery. I did run across two people selling their OEM Steps from what looks to be a 3500 CC. While I realize that the length is going to be off (which I'm not too concerned about), it does seem like the mount points are exactly the same based on the parts drawings (just eyeballing) so is there any reason these wouldn't work for me? If they do work does anyone know what is needed to mount them as far as screws/bolts (doesn't look like either has any) as I see the parts in the pic on moparts parts catalog online but its hard for me to tell which one is for which board as the pic I'm looking at lists a few types. If its just standard hardware I can get from lowes/Home Depot I'll do that for now.

You will need this kit:

You might pay more from eBay or another source but you will get them faster.

In the meantime you could use a kitchen one step stool to make it easier for the wife and kid to get in.

I understand the want for running boards, but they are just an accessory. They can be added next week or next month...
I would think 19+ 2500 and 3500 would use the same boards, but i dont know.
I'm sure the 19+ 1500 boards are different as its a different cab.

When you're wife is fairly short and your kids are 8 and 10 years old (unless I want them climbing in ) they're more of a need than a want but I get what you mean.
As far as the boards is more of a Crew Cab to Mega Cab question but I appreciate the input.

Thanks for the input, ill look locally for that kit and see. Obviously that still assumes that the Crew Cab Boards will work with the Mega Cab (understanding they won't extend as far ). At this point I think one of those fold up step stools will be in the picture :)

If you really can't take the truck home without running boards, I'd suggest checking with the dealer you'll be buying from. While they may not have boards, they should have the mounting hardware.

But as suggested above, if it were me, I'd get by with a step stool for a bit until you can obtain the boards you truly want.

Appreciate the feedback and I definitely don't want to put on something I'd be unhappy with so thanks for reminding me of that. At this point though I look at these sort of like some of the users have with those amazon boards (the "while i figure out what I really want" boards) in that what I'd be paying for them is fairly cheap ( one of the sellers just wants to get rid of them) and they would allow the family to easily use the vehicle and also be a known quality.

Those would also appear to be wheel-wheel steps from the CCSB.

In that case, they're likely to fall somewhere in between the end of the mega cab and the bedside space to the wheel, assuming the brackets fit or can be adjusted.

Solid advise there

Thanks again for all the replies and advice! At this point the dealer is still trying to source the boards I had originally wanted from another dealer in the region (and I did ask if they had that hardware kit in case the other boards become an option) but other than that we'll see what happens when the time comes but it may be a fold up stool or two for a bit.

Any local aftermarket shops around you? I ordered mine from a shop 3 hrs away had them in 1 day shipped to me before i even had the truck

springboard or mini trampoline for the kids and step stool for the wife.......My wife is approaching 60 and short 5'2 and shrinking and I am running 35's on a power wagon and until I put mopar steps on we used a small plastic step stool. Put the mopar steps on and she used them for a couple months and then I replaced those with 75A rocksliders and she has not complained at all.

I had to use a fold-up step even with my truck's steps for my Mother-in-law last week. Worked great.

Before I retired I had a shot lady riding with me. She used a plastic step stool with a rope tied to it She would put the stool on the ground to step into the truck and then put the step in with the rope. To get out she lowered the step with the rope and climbed out.
