As you all know on the 2500 taillights pictured here the part of the light circled does not light up. I'm wondering if it would be possible to add LEDs here to make this area illuminate. I'm wondering if I add some 2mm LEDs to the area in the back would this work. I don't know if this space is open or not. Has anyone ever taken one of these apart and seen how much space is there of if there is any wiring in this area. I'm looking at adding about 8 LEDs in this area in the pattern pictured
TIA and any help would be appreciated

I am no expert on the subject but that area that you want to modify is where the "Blind spot monitor and cross path detection" sensors are located.

I don't know if it would be possible without interfering with those sensors and that area is an opaque red and on the Night version is black. Not sure if those lights would penetrate it.

The black blind spot monitor cover that says “Ram” is not a lens, or opaque, it is a solid colored piece of plastic. Without the radars, there is plenty of room in the void behind there.
I think that the ram LED tails are one of the better looking tails out there, especially since the led arrays light up solid. I couldn’t imagine ruining that look with a few individual LEDs sprinkled around in the middle.

Thank you Sir. Well there goes that idea out the window. Was hoping that was opaque and not solid. Thank you for that information. On a side note I'm putting these on a 4th gen Ram 1500

Yo Jimmy!

Can those non-radar equipped tail light housings like the ones referred to directly replace the ones that come installed on the non BSM equipped Tradesman?

If so, can you post the part #'s for the non night edition.

It’s not a “direct” replacement, you need to change out the short tail light jumper harnesses also, because your tail light current connectors are 6-way, and the led tail light connectors are 12-way. You’ll also have to use AlfaOBD to change a few settings.

Jumper harness (1 for each side)- 68411221AA

Jimmy, Thanks a Heap!

Hey b307a1 please be advised those part numbers shown are supposed to be for the Black version but depending on where you order you will receive the Red version. I ordered the same part and received the Red with that part number sticker on them
I just tinted them to get the look I wanted.
Also if you go this route I have a pair of those wire harnesses brand new unused I'll let you have cheaper than the dealer

What are you putting them on....a Tradesman or Big Horn?

The part numbers that I posted are for red led tail lights. That’s what you will receive if you order from a mopar parts supplier. Any other used listing, or description describing them as black without pics would be incorrect. The black led tail lights without blind spot end in 18Ax and 19Ax.

To add, the tail light you have pictured has been painted black.

Thanks Jimmy07. I just added that info because the site I ordered from says those are Black and they were not. Not a big deal for me but just wanted to make him aware.
Yes they have I tinted them black
