Good morning, We are having issues with our tailgate and joined the forum to learn more about the truck and attempt to fix issues ourselves. we bought a 2019 ram 2500 tradesman from private party sale in September 2024. we need the truck to pull our camper, so we basically only use the bed of the truck in the summer months. I went to load some items into the truck for the storage unit a few weeks ago and our electronic tail gate wouldn't open, via remote, door locks, or tail gate handle. I had to take off the access panel and open each lock manually. This is fine as of right now bc we have a cap on the truck however in the spring i would like to be able to use the tail gate normally. we did change the battery after we got the truck but it was working then, once the weather here in IL changed and it got cold I noticed it. has anyone had an issue like this? i tried replacing the locks nothing, ordered a new wiring harness and still nothing. it appears that there is no power going to the locks maybe? it's weird though bc the backup camera sill works. i would like to avoid a dealership, if possible, which is why i am here. any help would be appreciated. is there a fuse for the tailgate maybe? or maybe a bad ground? if so where would i look to check those

on occasion mine will click, but not release. usually a few good whacks will get it to pop. not a solution, but as far as i have gone with it.

Maybe try the search on here as I believe there was info on tailgates but my memory isn’t the best. Didn’t have problems with mine other than needing a good slam like a Chev door to latch properly.

Can you hear them try and open? If not you are having a power issue to the latches. If you can hear them try pushing in on the tailgate while hitting the button and see if they release.

I would check the cable to see if any varmints havent chewed wires or the cable got pinched
I would also check the fuse to make sure it hasnt blown as well
