tail gate opening

had my 2022 ram 2500 for about 4 months, twice in that time after stopping my tail gate was down,,,i just chalked it up to old age (59) ..then today the gate fell open right after closing,, and since i was hooked to a trailer and didnt have distance it put a rather nasty dent in it......googling i find there is a recall , but mine was manufactured after the "afffected dates" by about a month i think something is wrong

Has anyone else had this issue,, i will be contacting my dealer , then prbly the zone office etc...suggestions

How’s it look on each side when it’s tightly latched? Flush with the bedsides or off from side to side?
 
chances are its out of adjustment, prolly left the factory out of spec and the recall will correct it. Even if your truck was not apart of the recall it could of been assembled to the wrong specs, just take a look at almost any modern cars fender gaps and you will see what I mean.
 
Even though your truck is a month out of date of the recall, take the recall notice to your dealer. It takes them no time at all to check the tailgate alignment.

as I said in my post my tailgate came down and hit my trailer jack causing a dent in it I've had the truck into the dealer to have the tailgate adjusted however they would not do anything for the dent in the tailgate I have tried to contact customer care and have received no response
