Mine does that too! I tried all the recalibration procedures I could find, none worked. Does anyone know how to fix this? The glass is too high on the back when fully closed, makes wind noise and might get some water in when going through the carwash...
Here is what I tried:
From the 2019 Ram 2500 Owner’s Manual & Community Sources
From the manual:
- The 2019 Ram 2500 has a “Relearn Procedure” for the sunroof when the Express Operation (one‑touch open/close) stops working. ManualsLib
- To reset:
- Ensure ignition is ON / in RUN mode. ManualsLib+1
- Use the sunroof switch to close fully. ManualsLib+1
- Release the close switch. ManualsLib
- Within 5 seconds, push and hold the close switch again. The sunroof will cycle (shade close, then open & close, then shade close). ManualsLib+1
- Once all motion stops, release the switch. The sunroof should be calibrated and express open/close restored. ManualsLib+1
From user / forum sources (for Ram / similar vehicles):
- Starting from the fully closed position:
• Press and hold the CLOSE/forward switch continuously.
• The sunroof will make a “hard stop” movement, then shade will close, then it will cycle through open & close, then shade close again.
• Only release once everything has completed. (If you let go early, the calibration may fail) Reddit
- If the motors or any part of the sunroof assembly has been replaced, reinstallation can require a special reinitialization mode. Reddit
Step‑by‑Step (Refined for 2019 Ram 2500)
Here’s a combined, practical procedure:
- Turn the ignition to RUN / ON (accessory or full run mode such that power is available to the system).
- Ensure the sunroof is fully closed (glass panel and shade).
- Push and hold the sunroof CLOSE (forward) switch.
- Continue holding even after it seems closed.
- Wait for a “hard stop” movement (motor may click).
- You should hear/see the shade move to closed if not already.
- Then the roof should cycle open → close.
- Then shade will close again.
- Only release the switch after all movement stops (end of the cycle).
- Test express open/close, and venting, to see if the functions are restored.
If it doesn’t work, repeat the process. Make sure no obstructions are in the tracks and the rails are properly lubricated.
