Sub for HK system

SiriusXM compresses their signal too much, it's definitely noticeable compared to bringing your own music. HD radio also adds a lot of processing to boost the bass among other things, so it's not an apples/apples comparison with any of those sources.
I hear ya. The point being the SiriusXM compression doesn't work for me so I rather listen to FM HD channels and suffer through the commercials. My GoTo is the stick.

Yeah the highs get really swishy with their compression - if you listen to anything quiet and instrumental (for instance, I like the Real Jazz station) the higher frequencies have a lot of compression artifacts that are very distracting.

Early on I'd hoped they'd allocate more bandwidth for the channels that could benefit from higher fidelity, maybe trade off with the talk, sports and comedy stations, but that is either not possible or they didn't deem it worthwhile, or possibly they did it and this is the best we can get. Unfortunate, really, sometimes I like listening to someone else's music selection to get new ideas.

I honestly thought the Alpine system in my 2018 was better for both FM HD radio and XM. It just had more thump to it.

Kind of interesting - I have a 19 1500 and a 19 3500. I got the 1500 first and the sound system was seroiusly disappointing. No low end and couldn't tune it from the dash. Did an update on the system at my last oil change and suddenly it sounds really good. Got the 3500 in January and noticed the exact same thing. I'm assuming if they flash the UConnect it should correct the problems eventually.

I have read through some of these threads as well. I have a 2019 2500 limited with HK system. I have a sub and amp from my old truck I want to replace the sub with. I am trying to figure out the easiest way to wire in the amp, assuming off the harness to the factory sub. I'm hoping someone can share what wires to use for this.
I have a 19 2500 Limited with the HK system that is in the shop right now for 3 recalls and one of them is the rear camera which deals with the radio. I Know there is a service bulletin dealing with the HK system, hope it comes back with better base. with that said I had a aftermarket sub and amp in my 2010 Laramie 2500 with the Alpine and since my Limited is the Gen4 interior the custom sub box will fit under the rear right seat were the factory sub is. From the research that I have done the HK system requires an inline module PAC Audio adapter AP4-CH41 revision 2. it hooks inline behind the radio and allows you to use line out from module to amp without using a line out converter using speaker outputs from factor amp. retains all of factory bluetooth, warning and chimes. The pac audio web site will break it down. One other thing that needs to be done is pull out or cut the noise cancelling microphone input wires To the factory amp (there are 4 of them) to prevent a feedback from aftermarket equipment. I have also read that some have replaced the 3 1/2 speakers in the dash and the 6 1/2 door speakers. I am not sure what ohms those speakers are I may just replace the sub and leave it like I did with the Alpine in my 2010. Hope this helps
