Can someone please give me some suggestions on removing the stock muffler on a ‘20 2500? I’m trying to install a solo performance muffler but I can’t get the stock one off!!! Lol

Yep. But I was kinda try to keep it intact. Lol
But it is definitely an option at this point.

I sprayed the joints and clamps with kroil the night before. Sprayed the hanger rubbers with silicone. Then wrestled that sucker for a while to get it off. I was able to pull the rear sections first then popped the middle out.

I loosened all the clamps and lubed the hangers with some silicone spray, then worked the pieces off, starting from the back. I broke them loose by hitting around the edges of the pipe ends with a big screwdriver and hammer, then a lot of wiggling. I also used a prybar where i was able to. Took far longer to remove the old exhaust than install the new one.

Did you have to take the tailpipe off?

Not completely but I did slide it back as far as the hanger would let me. I dropped my spare just to have more room to get in there and see. If you get the hangers slick enough they should just pop right off. I didn’t and fought them for a while. I removed on off the muffler once it was on the ground and soaped it up good and it slid right off. One of the muffler clamps on mine was tac welded on in one spot so it just loosened, the other one was not so it slid completely off. Where safety glasses, lubricant and dirt dripping in your eye is not fun.

I replaced the whole exhaust (cat-back), so yes.

It may be more difficult to get just the muffler off without taking the back end off, cause the hangers will only let you back it off so far. The muffler inlet/outlet is probably three inches or so into each pipe.

Spray the hangers with WD-40 and give it some force while wiggling back and forth. It will come out without cutting anything.

Yeah... I pulled the OEM stuff off in the driveway, I sprayed everything down to loosen it all up when I put in the catback.
Dropped the spare and pulled the heatshield out of the way.
Used channel locks to get he hangers off...
