Not a new topic, just want to make public my experience with Stellantis and @RAM Cares on this forum. My 2021 3500 has recall 13A for the grid heater relay. My local dealer has told me for months they can't get the part and I am on a waiting list. Due to the fire danger when being driven or parked and not willing to park my truck outside in 115 degree heat, I was able to order the recall relay myself. Odd I can order the part but dealer is unable. I changed out the relay with well documented photos showing everything. I submit these photos, the dealer invoice for the relay and a copy of credit card statement for reimbursement.

I was contacted within 2 days stating they (Stellantis) need a repair order from the dealer. I explained the dealer couldn't get the relay, forcing me to order and install the part. I explained there was no labor for reimbursement, just the cost of the relay and I resubmitted the documentation. I was contacted back saying no reimbursement since the dealer did not handle the recall. I again explained and again received the same response. I then messaged @RAM Cares on here. Guess what? Same exact response. I feel good knowing the supposedly improved relay is installed, thought this is the second go at this for Stellantis after the first recall relay failed the same as the original part. I guess this shows what a horrible company Stellantis is. Additionally if the cost of reimbursing a customer for a recall relay to avoid catastrophic failure is not possible, they are probably near bankruptcy like the last 3 owners.

I have owned mostly Dodge Ram trucks for the last 25 year because of the Cummins. My 2021 is by far the worst of them all, not based on performance, but based on all the quirks and issues. I know the grass isn't always greener on the other side, but after Stellantis build quality and treatment of a long time customer it will be my last. Maybe the minimal cost of reimbursing a customer for a needed recall part would have been money well spent vs a forum thread detailing real owners experience. I know when I bought my 2017 3500 I really spend time researching different forums, much less for the 2021, but COVID supply effected this purchase.

Time to talk to an attorney!

I am having a similar experience with them, reimbursement denied for "no installation cited" which is false since I had the dealership inspect the installation and it's cited on the work order.

If you don’t mind me asking, who did you buy the relay from everyone? I’ve talk to online or locally will not sell it to me. Thank you.

Plenty to gripe about with every auto mfg, but I don’t think an expectation that they would reimburse for self-sourced parts is realistic at all. The obvious liability and potential fraud issues would raise flags for any corporate attorney.

Other than years of them doing it. I even gave them a VIN of where it had been done on the V06 recall.

They previously didn’t care how it was installed and had the dealerships inspect the installation prior to clearing the recall.

Realistically if they clear the recall then they have bought off on the recall and reimbursement should be easy, and it use to be.

Interesting. Stellantis as well? They’ve only owned the brand for a couple years I thought.

Wow, that's even worse. Proves the point they wont reimburse regardless.

Larry Miller Online, who coincidentally is the same dealer network locally that had me on a waiting list unable to get the part. Poor corporation and worse dealer network.

I used the official Mopar parts site, on AH64ID's advice:

Interesting. That is the biggest reason I decided to have the dealer install the part instead of doing it myself. Figured that was the best way to get it documented in their systems. I had no issues with the reimbursement process.

Pretty sure @RamCares is an AI bot used to collect data on public forums like this one. They use this data for marketing, issues...etc. Don't ask how I know ;)
