So I did a quick search and don't see anything about this but I figure, I'd mention it to the group as it's the second time i've had this issue.

My 23 2500 Rebel Redeye with the 6.4 back in September kept doing the "click no bueno" start thing. I've replaced two batteries and kept having the same issues.Even searching for bad grounds or anything stupid.
Calworker went under the truck and looked at the starter and noticed the giant hole. Apparently the rubber breather, grommet fell out and corrosion, built up from all the **** being thrown up in it.

Fast forward 2 days ago, same click but now its DRT (dead right there).

SAME RUBBER PLUG FELL OUT.

It's at the dealership now under warranty getting fixed again. Anyone else having this issue?

I did not ask the dealer what exactly was wrong with the starter, but I just had my starter replaced with the same symptoms (I didn't look at the starter, so not sure if it is the same issue). It was only at 29k miles. It very well could be the same issue (23 Power Wagon, with 6.4).

I couldn't really find much mention of others having the same problem (in a wide spread sense), just that it seemed there was some small amount of online chatter. Maybe this is happening more often, but folks aren't talking about it much?

I'll be sure to periodically look at it, to make sure the rubber piece doesn't fall out.

So I did some quick research, and apparently there's two different plugs.........the rubber dong () and this clear one.
